Directions: Using the template below, describe how students could use a blog, wiki, or other websitecreation tool to learn required learning standards in your content area: For an A grade provide an idea that
reaches a Level of Technology Implementation of 4 or above. Remember higher levels (4-6) require that
students assume adult/professional roles; engage in higher-order thinking; and use technology
create/publish original content for their classmates and/or others beyond their school/classroom. The
learning activities and products should be engaging and meaningful to the students and to others who will
view/use/benefit from students work. Review your handouts on Engaged Learning, Authenticity, and LoTi.

Content Area/Grade/Standards/Topics Addressed: Blogs can be used to discuss any topic. My posts
were used to do an introduction to the class and as a reminder of the holiday party.
Brief Description of Learning Experience: Videos and assignments can be posted as a review,
homework, or classwork. Students could be given a topic and could write a post responding to it. They
could also start their own thread and have other students comment on it.

Student Engagement/Level of Technology Implementation (LoTi): The blog posts were simply
reminders because they can be used to engage any loti Level. It all just depends on how the blogs are being
used. When the teacher does a post, they are only hitting on loti level 1 and depending on what they have
students answer, they can hit on levels 1-3. When students create their own posts or use the technology,
they can hit on levels 4-6.
Importance of technology:
Technology is important because it allows teachers a way to engage students in ways other than just pencils
and lectures. It allows students to get creative and have fun while learning. It also helps students at home
when they may not understand the material or need to get in contact with another student/the teacher. The
blog can also attach useful videos, websites, games, worksheets, and more that can help make the learning
experience even better.
Inspiration (optional): If you used existing example as a model for your project (whether in part or
whole), include the URL(s) so we can visit. Explain what concepts you borrowed from others.
Internet Safety and Student Privacy. When using the blog, it is important get parental consent before
posting any student work/information. Students should use first names when posting anything to protect
their identities. The blog could be set on private to prevent outsiders from seeing it. School and private
blogs will be separate to prevent any conflict.
Describe your personal learning goal for this activity. I hope to give students a space to post their own
original works and thoughts without judgement. To also give them a place where they can find digital
resources when they are at home and in need of help.
