Introducing the lesson and preassessment:

A week before the lesson, students were asked
to prepare for the lesson using a Nearpod
presentation I created for them. It consisted of:
- A short video showing 2 kids answering
questions and students are asked to tell which
one had ADHD
- A case study about teaching students with
exceptional learning needs in regular
classrooms and then they will be asked to
answer 2 open ended questions.
- A poll which will help me identify the myths
and misconceptions students share about
ADHD.

On the day of the lesson:

Activity one: Building on the Nearpod
presentation:
- Using the report provided by Nearpod,
students can view on the board their response
to the video they watched-> raise their interest
to know the kind of information needed.
- Using the Nearpod report, students will see
their response to some of the myths and
misconceptions.
Activity 2: What is ADHD?
- Students will be asked to write on their own
words their denition of ADHD based on their
readings on a Padlet wall.
- Then I will use my slides to recap on their
denitions, introduce them to the 18 dierent
symptoms of ADHD and the criteria needed to
be met before giving any diagnosis. Causes of
ADHD will be discussed, and mimicking and coexisting disorders will be touched upon briey.

Activity 3: Challenges that ADHD child face:

Working in groups of 3 students will think
of the challenges students with ADHD
face in their daily lives. They will be asked
to write their thoughts on a Padlet wall.

Activity 4: In depth knowledge of main

characteristics of ADHD: what is it like to live
with a child with ADHD?
-Working in groups of 3, each group will be
assigned 2 main characteristics of ADHD and
will be required to represent their ndings
using Popplet.
-Then they will be given the the time to
modify or add to their thoughts about
challenges that ADHD face they posted
during activity 3.

Activity 5: Interventions to improve

performance of ADHD students
Students will work in groups of 3 to design a
Popplet about intervention strategies to
support ADHD students and then they will
present their assigned strategy.

Final Activity:
In the same groups, students will design a
poster to educate teachers about ADHD using
Canva.
