The transfiguration explains some wont die before seeing

It is clear that this kingdom hasnt yet come in fullest sense

Disciples asked when the kingdom come but were never told (Acts 1:6-8)

The Kingdom of God and the

Transfiguration 1-3

Mark and Matthew after six days / Luke about eight (9:28) - what?
James, Peter and John are the some who do not taste death before
Jesus often kept Peter, James and John close to him in situations:
When Jesus entered to heal Jairus daughter (Mk 5:37)
Here on the mountain for the transfiguration (Mk 9:2)
In the garden of Gethsemane when he was distressed (Mk 14:33)

It is uncertain which mountain this is traditionally Tabor, likely Hermon

The Transfiguration

Elijah and Moses Appear

Mark 9:4-8
Elijah

and Moses Spoke with Jesus 4-6

Elijah and Moses appearing here imply a radical message what is it?
Moses (Law) = need Christ Elijah (Prophets) = promise of Christ Jesus!
Peter didnt know what to say but he felt compelled to say SOMETHING!

Elijah and Moses Appear

Mark 9:4-8

A cloud and a Voice 7-8

God often appeared in a cloud and spoke to Israel (Ex 19:9; Lev 16:2)
What was the message from the Father?
They looked up and saw only Jesus = had fallen on their faces (Mt 17:6)

Notice the
angels, one at
each end of the
Ark of the
Covenant. The
Ark was a type
of Christ, whose
body lay in the
tomb on that
slab of stone as
the ultimate
Mercy Seat,
His blood
having been
sprinkled to
atone for us.

Down from the Mountain

Mark 9:9-13

As they Came Down 9-13

What does their descent from the mountain top teach us?
Mountain top give us the perspective we need (i.e. the glory of Jesus)
Only after the resurrection could they proclaim (perspective and power)
Elijah has come (John) and they did what they wanted as it is written?

Jesus is Faithful to a Faithless

Generation 17-22

The father answers in desperation 17-22

He had brought his son to Jesus but turned to the disciples in his absence
Like the father, people today look to Gods servants in his physical absence
Jesus picks up where the disciples had failed and meets the desperate need
The man has long battled to keep his son alive and well through childhood

Jesus on the Power of Prayer

Mark 9:23-29

Jesus Encourages the Father 23-24

Belief alone is not the key, but in Jesus belief brings heaven to earth
To trust God more = must know him more and walk the valley with Him

Jesus Delivers the Boy

Mark 9:25-29

Jesus Delivers the Boy 25-29

The demon makes one last hit before coming out typical of Satans ways!

Nothing but prayer and fasting (NKJV) what is the implication?

Everything can happen when we ask in faith = all things are possible
