TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS

GENERAL SPECIFICATIONS
SCOPE OF WORKS
a) The work under this section covers the supply of all labour, equipment and materials to
complete the following scope of work in accordance with the contract documents:
i. Supply and installation of Automatic Irrigation System for all landscape areas, as shown on
drawings and as described and specified herein for following.
Ground Floor Planting
Terraces at all Floors
Narrow Planters at Pergola
ii. Flushing, testing and commissioning of the complete irrigation system.
iii. Programming and balancing of Irrigation controllers based on Moisture Sensors, Weather
Station, and demand and flow availability from Irrigation Pumping Unit at STP located in
basement and Point of connections at various terraces and Pergola.
iv. Break down maintenance of irrigation System for one year.
b) Scope of work for Irrigation Contract shall start from the outlet of Irrigation Pumping unit,
installed by other trades, in STP Plant room located in basement. Installation of Filtration unit
and all piping in pump room after pumping unit would be in the scope of Irrigation Contract.
c) Supply of power to Irrigation Controllers is excluded from the scope of this contract, however
all coordination in this regards would be the responsibility of Irrigation contractor. In addition
supply and installation of all Low Voltage, direct Burial control cable is part of this contract.
d) The tenderer is to include for the supply, unless otherwise mentioned, delivery, installation,
connection, commissioning and testing of all materials and equipment to provide a complete
landscape irrigation system as described hereunder.
e) Irrigation pumping unit at STP shall provide 8 M3/Hr flow (Min.) at 4.5 Kg/Cm2 delivery
pressure. Pumping unit shall be supplied, installed and commissioned by other trades and is not
part of this contract.
f) Point of Connections from Domestic water would be provided by other trades at each Terrace
and Pergola. Water requirement is marked at each location on the drawings.
1.2
SYSTEM DESCRIPTION
a) Irrigation System has been designed keeping in view the aesthetics and public nature of the
area and need for easy and minimum maintenance. In addition various measures are
considered to minimize water consumption and power requirement.
b) Irrigation System shall provide completely automatic watering to all Landscape Elements
through the use of Auto controllers, Solenoid valves, Moisture Sensors (for Terraces), Weather
Station & Flow Sensor (for Ground Floor Planting) etc. Irrigation auto controllers shall be easily
programmable for desired starts, watering durations, days and shall have Water Budgeting
features and shall be compatible with Moisture Sensors, Weather Station and Flow Sensor as
the case may be. Irrigation Controller for Ground Floor planting shall be equipped with Air Card
compatible with Flow Sensor to provide desired reports and control to any internet enabled PC
or Laptop.
c) All landscape would be watered using Drip irrigation and Low Pressure Pop-up Spray. Low Flow,
Pressure compensating In-line Drip tubing would be used for all planting except for grass and
planting in Grass Grids. In-line emitter tubing having 2 LPH emitters at 300mm spacing would
also be used for narrow planters at Pergola.

d) Irrigation system for various areas would be separate and utilize water from different sources as
under.
Ground Floor Planting: Treated STP Water with provision of Make-up water in case of
shortage of STP water.
Terraces at various floors: Domestic Water from POC provided at each terrace.
Pergola Planting: Domestic Water from POC at Truss Level
e) All main lines up to the Solenoid Valve assemblies shall be HDPE rated for 10 Kg working
pressure. All lines after the Solenoid Valve assembly shall be UPVC rated for 10 kg working
pressure. However for Pergola Irrigation System all piping even after Solenoid Valves shall also
be HDPE.

2.2
PRODUCT SPECIFICATIONS
a) All materials and equipment to be incorporated in this system shall be new and without
flaws or defects, in the best of their class and of quality and performance as specified to
meet the requirements of the system and site conditions. All materials shall be in
accordance with the latest edition of the standards stated.
b) All material and equipment shall be of makes as specified above or approved equal. In case
of equivalent makes, comparison sheet needs to be submitted and written approval
obtained.
2.2.1
HDPE Pipes
a) HDPE pipes shall be PE 80 as per IS 4984-1995 for all main lines. The pipes shall be suitable
for 6 Kg/cm2 working pressure. Makes of pipes shall be as required in article 2.1
b) Pipes shall be manufactured using best quality virgin material and shall be continuously and
permanently marked with following information.
a. Manufacturers Name
b. Standards
c. Size and Pressure rating
c) Pipes shall be of uniform wall thickness, smooth finish inside and outside and shall show no
evidence of interior scratches, extrusion marks, blisters, groves or any manufacturing or
transit damage.
2.2.2
HDPE Fittings
a) All Compression fittings shall be rated for 10 Kg/cm2 suitable for HDPE pipes specified
above. Fittings shall be of approved make.
b) All Butt welded fittings shall be of 10 Kg/cm2 rating and shall be of same make as Pipes.
c) Wherever a branch or outlet of 50% or less diameter is required, Clamp saddles shall be
used instead of Tee. Saddles shall be Non-metallic and shall be of same make as
Compression fittings. Nuts and Bolts if used shall be SS 314.
d) Union wherever used shall be PVC Sch 80 or DIN 16 Kg/cm2 rating.
e) Flanges shall be selected to suit Valve flanges and shall be 10 Kg/cm2 (Min) depending on
pipeline material. All bolts, nuts and washers shall be SS 314.
2.2.3
UPVC Pipes
a) All pipes for laterals shall be UN - plasticized polyvinyl chloride (UPVC). UPVC pipes shall
confirm to IS: 4985-1988 and shall be rated for 10 Kg/cm2 working pressure.
b) Pipes shall be of uniform wall thickness, smooth finish inside and outside and shall show no
evidence of interior scratches, extrusion marks, blisters, groves or any manufacturing or
transit damage.
c) Pipes shall be supplied in lengths of six meters with integral socket end for solvent welding
and each length shall bear following permanent marking at regular interval.

Pop-up Sprays
Body, cover and flow tube shall be high-impact ABS. A stainless steel spring shall provide
retraction force. Outside entry of sand and dirt shall be prevented with a pressure-activated
wiper seal. Pop-up height shall be 4". Inlet threads shall be .
Pop-up Spray Bodies shall be equipped with Plastic Variable Arc Nozzle. Heads shall have
ratcheted flow tube for arc location purposes and radius adjustment. For high slope areas
same Spray heads shall also be available with factory fitted Check Valve.

2.2.9.1 CONTROLLER
a) Controller shall be capable of standard timed watering or auto-adjust watering times when
equipped with an optional SLW weather monitor manufactured by Weathermatic or equivalent.
Auto Adjust watering shall be based on real time, on-site weather data and system audit data
entered by the user. Auto adjust timing shall be based on the Hargreaves ET calculation
formula. Controller shall provide reviewable watering deficits, scheduled run times by zone and
a total run time recap for each zone which is resettable by the user. A more or less function
shall be provided to allow run time adjustment by zone for shade/sunlight, system efficiency
and other local factors. Auto adjust mode shall also include automatic calculation of run/soak
times based on both soil type and zone elevation.
b) Each program shall have eight independent start times, calendar schedules, watering budgets
by month and a soak/cycle for varying soil percolation rates.
c) Controller shall have a pump start/master valve position, which shall be programmable to
operate on demand from any selected zone. A programmable safety delay shall be included for
zone to zone delay and master valve to zone delay for opening and closure.
d) Controller shall have self-diagnostic capabilities to detect short or open zones and the
ability to display lists of faults on an LCD display for the user. Diagnostics shall also include LCD
display of volt/amp readings by zone and for transformer output as well as backup battery
reading. A chatter function shall also be provided to assist in locating buried valves. The
controller shall automatically prevent master valve opening or pump start when the valve
locator diagnostic is used.
e) Controller display shall be backlit for clear viewing in all lighting conditions. Zone timing shall be
settable from 1 minute to 9 hours and 55 minutes.
f)
Program D shall operate concurrently with programs A, B and C. Programs A, B and C shall stack
in sequence of start time operation.
g) Program schedules shall include options for days of the week, odd date, even date or an interval
of 1 to 30 days. A no water window shall be available to inhibit daily operations of a program
between two selected times on a given day; omission of up to 15 specified calendar dates or
specific days of the week. Adjustments for leap year shall be automatic.
h) Manual operation shall be provided by program, by station, or on a programmable test program
with durations from ten (10) seconds to ten (10) minutes. The programmable test program shall
also check for short and open conditions on each zone each time it is run.
i)
A non-volatile memory shall retain all programming and real-time clock shall be provided to
maintain date and time.

k) Controller shall be completely electric in operation. Controller shall be installed and wired in
accordance with manufacturers published instructions. Controller shall be capable of operating
from an independent power supply. Primary shall be 230V, 50hz.
l)
Controller shall be Weathermatic SL 4800 or equal with base zone count of 12 zones
expandable through the addition of 12 zone modules to desired stations (as indicated on
drawing) up to 48 zones.
At the controller page of SmartLink, the web user will be able to review, change or establish all
programs available in the SmartLine Controller.

g) User defined names for Sites, Controllers, and individual zones will be available.
h) System/Controller/zone alerts will be sent to the prescribed user by text or e-mail.
i)
SmartLink will be enabled with Global Commands for complete/partial system control.
j)
SmartLink will be enabled with AT-A-Glance Dashboard for easy review of SmartLine Controller
parameters and manual watering operations.
m) ELECTRICAL SPECIFICATIONS
The AIRCARD shall have an output Frequency Range of 824.2 to 848.8 MHz (GSM); 1850.2
to 1909.8 MHz (PCS)
The AIRCARD shall have 2G: GMSK type of modulation. The antenna type shall be TAOGLASS
(TG.22.0111) odbi. Power supply shall be 115V / 60Hz
2.2.9.4 FLOW SENSOR
a) The Tee Type PVC Flow Sensor shall be FSI Series manufactured by Creative Sensor Technology,
Incorporated of Rochester, Massachusetts for Weathermatic Sprinkler Division of Telsco
Industries or equivalent. The flow sensor shall consist of a custom molded tee shaped body with
socket ends conforming to PVC pipe dimensions, a flow sensor housing containing the
electronic circuitry and carrying the spinning impeller and a retaining nut.
b) The meter body shall be an in line type available in 3 sizes.
c) The 4 blade impeller (paddle wheel) shall be the only moving part.
d) The impeller shall be molded of HDPE (High Density Polyethylene) incorporating an integral
bearing. The shaft material shall be tungsten carbide. These two items are considered wear
items and shall be replaceable in the field without special tools.
e) The electronics housing, molded from the same material as the body shall be held in place with
a single ACME threaded PVC retaining nut held captive by the wire leads. The housing will be
sealed with one BUNA N O-Ring and shall be easily removed from the meter body. The
electronics housing and tee body shall feature direction of flow arrows to assist in assembly.
f)
The sensor electronics will be epoxy-sealed and fitted with 2 single conductors solid copper U.L.
listed #18 AWG leads with direct burial insulation 48 inch in length extending from the top of

the sensor. The positive (+) lead shall have red insulation and the negative (-) lead shall have
black insulation.
g) The housing and mounting tee are custom molded to form an integrated measurement
chamber resulting in highly accurate, repeatable flow measurements through a wide range of
velocities.
h) The flow sensor shall be designed to schedule 40 specifications and have a tested working
pressure of 240 psi @ 73F (23C). Maximum working temperature is 140F (60C).

The Product Serial Number shall be printed on shrink tubing and attached to the wire leads as
they exit the top of the electronics housing.
k) The Product Model Number shall be printed on shrink tubing and attached to the wire leads
above the Product Serial Number.

3.1
Disc Filtration unit shall be fully skid mounted ready for installation and shall be supplied with
Back Wash controller Panel based on pressure differential and time both. Each unit should have
two numbers of 2 Disc Filters installed in parallel.
Disc filters shall be T-type having polyacetal housing with polyamide and glassfibre lid, nitrile
rubber seals and heavy duty plastic discs capable of providing 100 Micron filtration. Inside Discs
shall be made of Polypropylene. All clamps and nuts etc. shall be Stainless Steel. The filtration
unit inlet and outlet headers shall be 3 flanges and should be suitable for 20 M/hr. minimum
flow. Maximum working pressure shall be 10 Bar. Filtration Unit shall be shall be Azud, Amiad or
approved equal.
EXECUTION SPECIFICATIONS
GENERAL
All materials and equipments shall be installed in a neat and workman like manner. The
Engineer reserves the right to direct the approval and replacement of any item (s), which in his

opinion does not meet the requirements as stated in this document. Sizes shall confirm to those
shown on drawings.
All damaged, rejected or leftover materials shall be immediately removed from site at
contractor's expense. No materials or equipments shall be installed at the project site without
the written approval of the Engineer.
During installation the Engineer should approve various steps to proceed to the next one. The
Contractor is required to submit his Method Statement and program of Works prior to start of
work.
EXCAVATION
Trenches shall be excavated in a manner as to accommodate pipe laying to the alignment and
depth specified. The contractor shall be responsible for locating and protecting all underground
utilities.
The contractor shall be responsible for the supply and fixing of all necessary equipment and/ or
materials needed such as timber, sheet metal, dewatering pump etc., to support and protect
the sides of excavations.
The trenching depth for pipes shall be sufficient so that the soil cover above the crown of the
pipes after installation will be as follows:
* Mainlines
60 Cms.
* Laterals
30 Cms.
The trench shall have a smooth and level bed, free from timber, stones and boulders. The width
of trench should be sufficient as to allow for proper handling during installation.
Contractor shall supply and erect all safety measures required to make site work as safe as
possible to the satisfaction of the Engineer.
LAYING AND JOINTING OF HDPE PIPES (MAIN LINES)
a) The trench bottom shall be carefully examined for the presence of hard objects such as flints,
rock projections or tree roots etc. pipes shall be bedded in sand or soft soil free from rock and
gravel. Back fill 15 cm above the pipe shall also be of fine sand or soft soil. Pipes shall not be
painted. Pipes shall be laid of at least 60 cm. below the ground level (measured from surface of
the ground to the top of pipe).
b) All HDPE mains shall be pressure tested and approved prior to backfilling of trenches. Hydro
Test shall be carried out as specified in the documents.
c) All HDPE Pipe installation in Basement shall be fully coordinated with other trades and shall be
installed using approved hangers, brackets, clamps etc. as per Engineers approval. Contractor
shall follow standards used for similar installation by other trades.
d) All HDPE piping at Pergola shall be coordinated with other trades and services. Piping shall be
done in concealed manner as much as possible and all work shall be carried out after due
approval by the Engineer.

Connection to these planters shall be given through HDPE Pipe, to be taken through nearest
available shaft. The routing and installation shall be fully coordinated at site with other building
services.
3.11
MOISTURE SENSORS
Moisture Sensors would be installed at each terrace and Pergola planting to conserve water.
These shall be installed at suitable location in Solenoid assembly valve box. Display unit shall be
installed near the Four-station controller, which would be wall mount.
All connections and installation shall be done as per installation manual provided with the
Moisture sensor by the manufacturer.
