General Structure:
Daily Procedures:
The school day will start at 8:05am
Homeroom begins at 8:08am where teachers take attendance, collect
lunch money, say the pledge of allegiance, etc.
There will be a poster that has the pledge all written out for students,
specifically ELL students to read it if need be
The School Day:
There will be nine 42 minute periods throughout the day with
Students will have 3 minutes in between classes
Students will have five classes in the morning, lunch, and then four
classes at the end of the day
The first three periods will be Math, Language Arts, Science and Social
Studies
The last four periods will alternate between Library, Art, STEM and Gym
ELL students will be taken out from one of the last three classes for
extra support with the ELL teacher
The class in which they get taken out in will also alternate from day to
day
2)
Funds
I will utilize the allotted ELL money on three teachers, and then
supportive technology that ELL students can use with and without
their ELL teachers
Supportive technology example: assistive computer software to
increase word recognition, reading comprehension as well as Ipads
that include the software
I will have one teacher assigned to become an expert on the
supportive technology so she can hold seminars and tutorials for the
other two teachers. This teacher will be the go-to person for all
questions regarding the supportive technology and will be assigned
fewer students (only about 20) than the others
The other two ELL teachers will be assigned about 40 students each to
help
All three ELL teachers are responsible for communicating with the
students teachers to see what specific problem each individual ELL
student is facing, their strengths/weaknesses, etc.
There will be biweekly meetings with the teachers to go over these
areas
They are also in charge of keeping in touch with the students parents
to ensure learning outside of the classroom
Two of the ELL teachers (the ones who are not in charge of the
supportive technology) will be assigned ELL students in the lower
grades. One will be assigned grades K-2, the other 3-5
The ELL teacher responsible for technology will be assigned 20
students, most likely students in 5th grade
