Alan Steinberg, a political scientist and space enthusiast, describes how a large
variety of Americans dont know much about the space program and how theyre funded.
He reaches out to find the public opinion on NASA funding to see what people know and
think about it. This article is scholarly because it comes from a credible author that is a
political scientist and space enthusiasts. This a good source because it shows how
Americans react to NASA funding and how much they and spending

V.J. Hipkin, M.A Voytek, M.A. Meyer, R. Leveille, and S.D. DomagalGoldman, who are all involved with NASA and the Mars mission, talk about the mission
to Mars in hopes of finding water so they know life can live on it. In the article they

discuss that they look around for minerals and rocks and bring it back for testing. This
source is a scholarly because all the authors are involved with the Mars mission and
NASA. This is a good source because it tells us what they are doing on Mars and what
they plan to do in missions to come.

Sydney Do, Andrew Owens, Koki Ho, Samuel Schreiner, and Oliver De Weck, a group of
recently graduated student that all have their Ph.D. in space system engineering. They talk about
colonizing Mars in 2025 and having the first human settlement on the surface of Mars. This is a
good article because it shows how soon people will be able to live on Mars and gives a time line
on when and how its going to be done. This is a credible source because its scholarly and these
authors all have Ph.D.s in space system engineering.

Ron Garan, a fighter pilot, social entrepreneur, astronaut, and aquanaut, gives his
reason as to why the U.S. government is spending so much on space exploration when there are
problems on Earth. This is a credible article because Garan has experienced these matters first

hand. It fits into my research because it talks about NASA spending money and what we do with
it.

Meyer, Robinson. "NASA's About to Have Its Biggest Budget in a Decade." The Atlantic.

Robinson Meyer, an associate editor at The Atlantic that focuses on technology,


describes that NASA requested about 700 million more dollars requested from the white house
for their mission in 2020. This article shows how much money NASA is going to be able to
spend for the next mission. This article is not a scholarly article but it comes from a credible
source. Meyer talks about improvements being made to the International Space Station (ISS) and
other modifications that are soon to come.

Richard Morris, a writer for NASA, talks about the success they have had with the Mars
Rover. They have gathered multiple pictures of proof that there was once water on the planet.
This is a good article because it talks about progress NASA has made with their mission to Mars.
This is a credible source because it comes straight from the source which is NASA. This is good
for my research because it shows them doing productive things with the money they have been
given.
