Students are allowed to use online communication technologies in a structured environment.
After reading and signing an acknowledgement form, students are only allowed to use such
forms of technology only with permission.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT COMPONENT

The Plan must have a professional development strategy to ensure that staff understands
how to use these new technologies to improve education services
(Answer at least 2 questions for each subsection below)

Summary of the teachers' and administrators' current technology proficiency and integration
skills and needs for professional development.
1) Do administrators support teachers with the integration of technology for daily
curriculum?
Teachers have training sessions during summer break and they also have teacher development
days throughout the year. During these days teachers learn information that is necessary to lead
classes. This includes technology knowledge as well.
2) What do teachers and administrators consider as their needs for professional
development?
Every HPS campus has an instructional coach. Instructional coaches determine the instructional
technology requirement for each classroom according to district level. Each campus also has a

data analyst. Coaches monitor teachers and prepare reports. Along with the data analyst, they
strategize what kind of approaches to take in case of failures and successes.
Describe goals and an implementation plan, with annual activities, for providing professional
development opportunities based on your LEA needs assessment data and the Curriculum
Component of the plan.
1) How will teachers and administrators be trained and provided ongoing support in
the effective integration of technology into curriculum?
Central Office requires teachers to attend professional development days during the year.
Instructional coaches visit classrooms and monitor teachers in order to help with classroom
