Course Description
This course is designed for those students who want to further develop sewing skills through
more difficult projects. Students will interpret guide sheet language and complete projects with a
high level of proficiency.
Priority Standards:
1. Demonstrate advanced apparel and textile construction skills.
2. Demonstrate general operational procedures for sewing equipment.
3. Evaluate the components for garment quality and design.
Supporting Standards:
1. Outline and summarize the components of fabric and their purpose.
2. Examine details of common garment silhouettes.
3. Choose appropriate construction terms as needed.
4. Demonstrate advanced construction techniques.
5. Interpret pattern, envelope, and guide sheet.
6. Identify ways to restyle or repurpose garments.
7. Evaluate garments for value, quality and fit.
8. Describe the importance of the apparel industry and its leaders.
9. Research career opportunities in the clothing field.
