Describe how you would use the Online Project/Collaboration Site/Publishing
Opportunity in your classroom: I would use Kidscom to excite students about writing the
possibility to have it published on the Internet.
What technologies would be required to implement this proposed learning activity in a
classroom? A computer with a keyboard and Internet access will be required to complete this
activity.
Describe how the following features are addressed in this learning experience (note: all of
them may not be addressed in the project, but most should be if you are reaching a high
LoTi Level.):
a. Collaboration with peers, near-peers, mentors outside their classroom and often
beyond their school: Students will peer-edit their writing before composing a final
draft.
b. Student-centered learning and knowledge creation (collecting original data and or
producing original products as a result of engaging in the project): Students will
create their own original piece of writing.
c. Higher-order thinking: Students will need to a create high-quality piece of writing
that meets or exceed 3rd grade standards. Students will need to edit their writing
and have another peer edit it before publishing it online.
d. Students publishing their original work to others who will use/care about their
product: Students will publish their original work to Kidscom where other
elementary students can read them and learn from their writing.

What Level of Technology Implementation best describes this learning activity and Why?
LoTi level 4 would be met by this assignment because students are given voice and choice in
their writing and they have the opportunity to publish it online.
How could you implement this proposed learning experience and still comply with your
districts Internet Safety and Student Privacy policies? I would monitor student access while

on the Internet and ensure that no personal information is shared (other than their first names)
when publishing their writing online.
