and why would I use it?
EAL allows the extraction of Financial Management data to Essbase.
This allows not only reporting of data against Essbase, but allows the
data to be merged with all the data available to Essbase.
EAL can extract HFM data to a relational database.
Data can be auto-extracted (Transparent Partition) or snapshot taken.
(Replicated Partition)
Allow to select specific data and metadata to extract from HFM
EAL Architecture
Analytics Link Server A web server that integrates HFM application to
Essbase and manages all operations.

Data Synchronization Server Creates a database based on the data
and metadata extracted from HFM.

Financial Management Connector Enables Analytics Link Server to
extract HFM application metadata.

Analytics Link Repository A relational database that stores internal
data.
EAS Console Plugin Provides the user interface for defining EAL
servers and bridges.

Smartview Used to report on data retrieved by the EAL services.

What is the right version of EAL to install?
For EPM Pre 11.1.2.2 EAL 11.1.1.4.005 Patch 1739518

For EPM 11.1.2.2 Only EAL 11.1.2.2.301 Patch 16175125
EPM 11.1.2.3 currently is not supported with EAL.

EAL Installation and Configuration
Prerequisites for Install/Configuring EAL

Components
Analytics Link Server - This component must be installed on the same
server that is running the Weblogic Administration Server and EPM
Foundation Services. Weblogic Admin Console must be running to
deploy.
Data Synchronization Server This can be installed on any server.
Financial Management Connector - This component must be installed
on the HFM web server.

The EAL logs are located in the EAL Work directory.

com.essbase.api.base.EssException: Cannot connect to olap service. Cannot connect to Essbase Server. Error:Essbase
Error(1042003): Network Error [11001]: Failed to retrieve name information for [ealtest]
This error can also be caused if there are not enough network connections from the EAL server to the Essbase server.

Information needed when logging a Service

Request for EAL.
Screenshots.
Note the date and time of the problem, if possible.
Zip up all the logs in the EAL Work directory. If you have multiple
servers, you will need to do this on each to get all the logs.
Make sure the SR logged under Product: Oracle Essbase Analytics
Link for HFM.
Verify the preferred Contact Method.
