Botanical and Zoological

Gardens
A botanical garden or botanic garden is
a garden dedicated to the
collection, cultivation and display of a
wide range of plants labelled with
their botanical names. It may contain
specialist plant collections such
as cacti and other succulent plants, herb
gardens, plants from particular parts of
the world, and so on; there may
be greenhouses, shadehouses, again with
special collections such
as tropical plants, alpine plants, or
other exotic plants. Visitor services at a
botanical garden might include tours,
educational displays, art exhibitions, book
rooms, open-air theatrical and musical
performances, and other entertainment.
Botanical gardens are often run by
universities or other scientific research
organizations, and often have
associated herbaria and research program
in plant taxonomy or some other aspect of
botanical science. In principle, their role is
to maintain documented collections of
living plants for the purposes of scientific
research, conservation, display, and
education, although this will depend on
the resources available and the special
interests pursued at each particular
garden.
A zoo (short for zoological
garden or zoological park, and also called
an animal park or menagerie) is a facility
in which animals are confined within
enclosures, displayed to the public, and in
which they may also breed.
The term "zoological garden" refers
to zoology, the study of animals, a term
deriving from the Greek zon (,
'animal') and lgos (, study). The
abbreviation 'zoo' was first used of
the London Zoological Gardens, which was
opened for scientific study in 1828 and to

the public in 1857.[1] The number of major

animal collections open to the public
around the world now exceeds to 1,000,
around 80 percent of them are in cities. In
the United States of America alone, zoos
are visited by over 180 million people
annually.
Zoological and botanical gardens are
multi-purpose facilities the primary
purpose of which is to contribute to the
preservation of biological diversity through
the keeping of animals and growing of
plants, scientific and research work, and
environmental education and awareness
raising for the general public.

Difference between Botany and

Zoology
Key difference: Botany and Zoology are
vast Biological branches. Botany deals
entirely with the study of plants, while
Zoology deals with animal studies.

Biology is an immense field which deals

with many varieties of living organisms. It
is natural science which includes the
entire study of living organisms. Biological
study includes the structural, functional,
growth evolution, distribution and their
taxonomies. Modern biology is a vast and
eclectic field, composed of many branches
and sub-disciplines. Among them, botany
and zoology are the prime disciplines.
Botany entirely deals with the plant
studies, while zoology deals with animal
studies.

Botany or plant biology also known as

plant science is the scientific study of
plant life. Its one among the vital
branches of biology, which deals with the
study and research related to plant life.
The term botany comes from Ancient
Greek word botane meaning pasture,
grass, or fodder; the word is further
derived from boskein, meaning "to feed"
or "to graze". Botany along with the study
of plants also included the study of fungi
and algae; hence these three vast groups
of organisms are included under the
International Botanical Congress. Today,
botanists have found and carry their
research on 400,000 species of living
organisms of which some 260,000 species
are vascular plants and about 248,000 are
flowering plants.
Botany had its origin from the prehistoric
times, when it was commonly known as
herbalism. There used to be medieval
physic gardens which were often attached
to the monasteries. These gardens
included the useful medicinal plants and
herbs. Today, the modern botanical branch
has become broad and includes the
multidisciplinary subject with inputs from
most other areas of science and
technology. Botanical research have
diverse applications in providing staple
foods and textiles, in modern horticulture,
agriculture and forestry, plant
propagation, breeding and genetic
modification, in the synthesis of chemicals
and raw materials for construction and
energy production, in environmental
management, and the maintenance of
biodiversity.

Zoology or animal biology deals with the

study of animal life. Like botany, even
zoology is one among the vital branches of
biology which further has its own sub
branches. The term zoology has been
derived from the Ancient Greek zon
which means animal and logos meaning
knowledge, or study. The zoological
studies deal with the structure,
embryology, evolution, classification,
habits, and distribution of all animals, both
living and extinct.
Right from the ancient to the modern
times, zoology entirely traces the study of
animal kingdom and its science. The
zoological sciences emerged from natural
history reaching back to the works of
Aristotle and Galen in the ancient GrecoRoman world. This work further got
developed during the medieval period.
After the medieval development
Microscopy got invented, this enabled the
study of micro organisms. Zoological
research and investigation includes the
anatomy, physiology, histology,
embryology, teratology and ethology

concepts and practices. Today, zoological
researches have proven too beneficial for
humans and their development.
Botany and Zoology are vast sciences
within their selves. They are two different
but co-related branches among each
other, which falls under Biology. These
branches further are sub divided into
various other branches; hence it
concludes they are vast studies and
researches in huge concepts.

How can the public be

persuaded to visit my project?
I will persuade the public for my project by
wondering what is in my project and
convince them to say no. I'll make them
attracted to my rare plants and trees also
endangered animals and have passion to
becoming key players in both
the conservation of plants. Educate the
visitors and to impart a connection to wild
animals. This may be starting for them to
play a role in the mitigation of the effects
of climate change, and could be vital to
the survival of the planet as they are
perfectly placed to help move species
around and help ecosystems to adapt to
new climates in different regions. I will
assure that they are safe in my botanical
and zoological gardens. I'll show them that
there are species living on earth exists
that they can't imagine in their whole life.
I will tell about everything pertaining each
species that they want to know about it
like their characteristics, lifespan, where it
came from and etc. I will persuade them
to visit my botanical and zoological garden
for a variety of reasons, including taking
rests, escaping from everyday routines,

spending time with friends and family and

appreciating what nature has to offer. I
want to give people the chance to observe
wildlife they may otherwise never see and
establishes the importance of
conservation efforts all over the world.

What could be the most

challenging consideration for
this kind of project?
This is so challenging for me because this
is the first time that I have this kind of
project. For me I think that the most
challenging about this project is how can I
preserve and maintain the very best of
every specie that I have. Conservation is
already, and very appropriately,
recognized as being a major activity for
botanical and zoological garden in both
their research and educational programs.
Realistically I must work as conservation
manager, extremely small stands have
been found to persist in nature. I must
know how to protect all these creatures. I
will give my passion for this project as I
always do to my every project. I will give
my very best to make this project so
amazing and yet so healthful for everyone.
