Wikispaces
http://www.wikispaces.com/content/classroom
The teacher will make the classroom and send the students a link on
how to access it. The students will then click the link and make an
account with their email address and password. (Or just by going to
wikispaces.com.) And now they can access that certain page. To edit it,
they will have to click where it says edit (on the bar near the top of the
page) and now they can access and write on the page and create
whatever they desire. On the bar near the top is also where you can
change font, color, etc. And it is also where you would save what you
have worked on.
I would use this tool in the upper elementary classes probably 6th grade.
One of their sols is Thestudentwillparticipateinandcontributetosmallgroup
activities.(6.1)
1. a)Communicateasleaderandcontributor.
2. b)Evaluateowncontributionstodiscussions.
3. c)Summarizeandevaluategroupactivities.
4. d)Analyzetheeffectivenessofparticipantinteractions.
This actually works perfect because as a group they can have their own
pages where they can post all of their stuff. Like if they were reading a
book, any predictions, summaries, characters, or even questions. The
other students can go in there and answer and look at what the others
wrote.
Thestudentwillwritenarration,description,exposition,andpersuasion.

The students could even have history debates on something like the Civil
War, or even debates about science.
Positives and
challenges of
using the tool
Everyone can edit and contribute, easy to use and guide the students
through, the students can be authors, and what they produce is
immediate and you dont have to wait for it to be published.

Google Docs
www.google.com/docs/about
Go to the website www.google.com/docs/about
Set up a Google account to access the docs
Begin by clicking create
You can create documents, presentations, whatever you please
Probably use this in the higher elementary school grades. They could
work on a document/ presentation together like in a group project, they
can collaborate and ask questions about certain subjects they dont
know and have discussions, they can made brochures, stories or
advertisements
The student will find, evaluate, and select appropriate resources for a
research product. (6.9) The students could use this for discussing what
resources they found and any ideas that they might have
Compose a topic sentence or thesis statement. The student could work
together to find good topic sentences and develop good thesis statement by
peer review
Positives and
challenges of
using the tool
You can have multiple students working on it at the same time, they can
collaborate, anyone with internet can access it, save data because you
dont have to store all your documents
Anyone can access it so things might be deleted again, doesnt have all
the bells and whistles of word, might be challenging for students who
havent used it before
