Case Study:
Unruly class- What to Do When Your Classroom is Unmanageable.
Learning Objectives:
1. The class will be able to identify what is considered an unruly class.
2. The class will be able to understand what should be done when confronted with an
unruly class.
3. The class will learn how to establish control and respect before having an unruly
class.
Activities and Procedures:
1. Quick PowerPoint with 3 slides for recap
a. Students describe personal experiences with unruly classes.
2. Class discussion
a. Distribute questions to the tables (1 question per table).
b. Allow 3-4 minutes for tables to discuss the answer.
c. Each table then gets to answer their question.
d. Rest of the class can jump in and discuss.
3. Jeopardy game
a. Each table will be a team.
b. Score will be kept on the board.
c. Each table will get to pick a category and question and will receive about a
minute to answer.
d. Each category will cover an objective.
Assessment:
1. The discussion
a. This discussion will check for understanding of the case study.
b. Prove if the students have put thought into this topic enough to be able to participate.
2. Jeopardy
a. Helps us to see if students know the information from the case study enough to be
able to quickly come up with the correct answer.
b. Checks for understanding of what an unruly class is, how to deal with it and how to
prevent it.
