TheUNresolutiondoesnotprovidealegalbasisformilitaryactionanddoesnotinvokethe
chapteroftheUNcharterauthorisingtheuseofforce.

'Worldunited'
ButMrCameronwhoinsiststhelegalcaseforactionissolidevenwithoutsuchapproval
hopesitwillhelppersuadeLabourMPstoapproveanescalationoftheUK'smilitary
involvement.
MPsrejectedairstrikesagainstSyriangovernmentforcesina2013vote.
LabourleaderJeremyCorbynisexpectedtouseaspeechonSaturdaytounderlinehis
positionofstaunchopposition,andwillstatethatbeing"atthecentreofasuccessionof
disastrouswars"hasunderminedBritishsecurity.
MrCameron,whoisduetosetouthis"comprehensivecase"forstrikesagainstISinSyria,said
aftertheUNvotethat"theworldhasunited"againsttheterrorgroup.
Healsosaiditdemonstrated"thebreadthofinternationalsupportfordoingmoreinSyriaandfor
decisiveactiontoeradicate"IS.
TheUNSecurityCouncilhadalsoreiterateditsdeterminationtosecurea"politicalsolution"to
theconflictinSyria,hesaid.
"BritainwillcontinuetosupportourallieswhoarefightingIsilinSyria,"hesaid.
"IwillcontinuetomakethecaseforustodomoreandtobuildsupportinParliamentforthe
actionthatIbelieveisnecessaryforBritaintotaketoprotectourownsecurity,aspartofa
determinedinternationalstrategy.
