Supply Chain Management

Supply chain management links all the supply interacting organizations in an

integrated two-way communication system to manage high quality inventory
in the most effective & efficient manner. The supply chain management
reflects those actions & values responsible for the continuous improvement
of the design, development & management processes of an organizations
supply system, with the objective of improving its profitability & ensuring its
survival, as well as the profitability & survival of its customers & suppliers. A
firms supply system includes all internal functions plus external suppliers
involved in the identification & fulfillment of needs for materials, equipment
& services in an optimized fashion. (BASAK, 2015)

Specialable SCM:

Since Specialable is a start-up organization, which is introducing a new

concept of adaptive clothing in the Indian markets, the supply chain
activities are centralized at the head office. All the communication is done
via head office.
Fabric Suppliers:
Fabric suppliers are identified by the Sourcing Manager from the supplier
base spread across India. The order is placed by the manager and the
material is bought and kept in the company warehouse for fabric inspection

and then the fabric is allotted to different manufacturing factories as per the
planning.

Please find below the list of fabric suppliers:

Outsourced Manufacturing:
The manufacturing function is completely outsourced to other firms. The
fabric is directly supplied to these manufacturing units who further give subcongrats based on the following 3 categories:

Cut-make-trim (CMT) contactors: supply operators, machines, and

thread and make garments.
Full package program (FPP): materials is supplied and develop patterns
as well as make garments. Greater financial responsibility. FPP might
higher CMT contractors.
Specialty contractors: provide services such as pattern grading,
cutting, embroidering, belt making, fabric pleating, etc.

There is a two way communication in this process where in the information is

send outward to the manufacturing units in terms of design, the tech pack
and the sourced fabric. The motive behind completely outsourcing the
manufacturing unit is to achieve the economies of scale and enjoy the
expertise these factories have in terms of garment manufacturing.
