Youth Ninja Warrior

This is the first

year that an obstacle
course for youth
will be on the Little
Rock Air Force
Base. This obstacle
course will be available to the JLCS
youth, but only 112
people can sign up. The pre-signup process is over,
but if there is room, there will be time to sign up closer
to the competitions to be held in April to June of 2016.
The course is expected to be completed in January.
The Youth Ninja Warrior course and competition
will be hosted by Youth Program, and it was funded
through a grant that I personally wrote to Home Depot.
This course is based off the one on American Ninja
Warrior, and will be available to those who sign up,
have access to the base, and are 8 to 14 years old. You
also need to train before you compete. We hope that
Youth Ninja Warrior will be for fun, so dont get too
competitive.
If anyone has any
questions about
YNW, come find
me when you have
the time. Ill also
be speaking about
YNW several times
during Town Hall.

If you are anything like me, you have probably be wondering where the
th

merit wristbands have been. We have been told several times that we
would receive the wristbands next week, but as of December, this still has
not happened. This has left us wondering if this wristband system was
going to be up and running this school year. Well, yes, we are going to
getting the wristbands, but it wont be until after winter break.
Actually, the wristbands are currently at Flightline, and have been for
some time. Multiple seventh and eighth graders have asked, when are
we getting the wristbands? The reason we havent gotten them yet is there is an app that will be used with the
wristbands and the scholars information has to be entered. After everything gets in the system, the teachers will
be trained on how to use the system. Teachers will have professional development the day before we come back to
school after break, so lets hope everything is up and going by then. So dont worry my fellow scholars, we will be
getting those wristbands soon.

No STRESS OUT During BLACKOUT

The morning of December 3rd was a little different than Flightliners are used to.
Around 8AM, it went dark. How did you guys feel about the blackout? Dont be too angry, okay. I did learn some things. The blackout was allegedly caused by two workers
working on the new front gate. The workers allegedly accidentally touched two wires that
shouldnt have been connected which caused the power substation to overload.
Many people and scholars were scared when the power went out, but it became clear
that there was no need to be scared as the day went on. Some teachers couldnt keep
teaching because they didnt have power to
their electronics, but some teachers like Mrs.
McClain kept teaching. Mrs. McClain is pictured holding her cellphone as a flashlight
while continuing to teach her math class as her
emergency lights died out. The best part was
that we got to go home at noon. The power
came back on around 2PM, but flickered off
and on until the substation was repaired.

Peter Pan: The Twisted Story

The book Peter Pan by J.M. Barrie
is semi-similar to the movie except
it has a darker twist.
Peter Pan was the only kid
on Neverland that never grew up.
When Peter felt as if the Lost Boys
were getting too old, he would kill
them. Also, Tinkerbell wanted Wendy to die in the beginning of
the book. Tinkerbell told the Lost Boys to kill Wendy with a
bow and arrow because she was a Wendy-bird. So, if it you like
slightly morbid stories involving murder and death, I recommend Peter Pan. You can buy it at Barnes & Noble for $6.98.

Once Upon a Time Review

Once Upon a Time is a very well-loved show. Its great for children in
the sense of fairytales but great for adults who want an unexpected plot
twist which is always throwing the viewers into frantic Twitter and Instagram
rants. The great thing about the show is
although it is about fairytales it shows its
significance to the current story in time.
I would give this show 5/5 stars!!

My prediction for Super Bowl 50 are the Carolina Panthers VS. the
New England Patriots.
Now for the NBA the top teams now with the best record are for the
Eastern Conference you have the 1.Cleveland Cavaliers, 2. Indiana Pacers, 3.Miami Heat. Now from the Western Conference we have, the
1.Golden State Warriors, 2.San Antonio
Spurs, and the 3.Oklahoma City Thunder. In
the biggest news coming out of the NBA, Kobe Bryant has announced he is retiring after
this season.

Zabiconica: Part 2

While the Alliance of Ultimates was plotting

their evil conquest, heroes were meeting in
Zerckos capital, Necrolia City. By the time
our heroes arrived in Necrolia City, Zercko
was about to erupt into war. Agent J was
called to have a private meeting with the President of Zercko in his secret office.
What is happening, Mr. President? asked
Agent J. You seem unlike yourself. Why did
you call me away from my home planet to
Zercko? Agent J had noticed a change in the
President since the second day Agent J had
been there for the summit meeting.
I needed your help stopping this war before it
starts, replied the President of Zercko.
What about the other agents? questioned
Agent J. Just then, the room grew ice cold, it
felt like someone had sucked all the air out of
the room, and the lights flickered. Agent Js
eyes widened. What is happening, Mr. President?
Where the President of Zercko had once
stood only a second ago, stood a towering,
hooded, shadowy figure. A menacing voice
laughed, Mwa haha ha ha. The laugh echoed. I am the Shadow and I am here to destroy you! boomed Lord Shadow.
You will never be able to destroy me because
the agency will send more in my place. I have
already triggered my beacon to the agency,
replied Agent J.
Not so fast! hissed Lord Ultranetta.
YOU!!!!!!! yelled Agent J.
Surprised? smirked Lord Ultranetta. Hail
the agency all you want. My troops already
got there. Your agency is gone and everyone
there is dead.
Agent J paused in shock. Certainly not everyone, Agent J thought. He knew he shouldnt have come here; Not to Zercko, and not to
this meeting. Agent J had had an uneasy feeling about his invitation to Zercko. He had unfortunately not trusted his gut. He knew that
he knew better.
Its over! grinned Lord Shadow. The home
you chose to fight for belongs to the Alliance
of Ultimates.

Star Wars: the Force Awakens

Almost time, it is. Strong, the force is. The new Star Wars movie is here! From Episode
1: The Phantom Menace to Episode 6: Return of the Jedi. We see Kylo Ren with a new
form of lightsaber. Now we see old Han Solo with two new characters: Rey and a Jedi
named Finn. Now heres my opinion on the Star Wars films!
Episode 1 was about a young boy named Anakin who was destined to become a Jedi
chosen one. Then an evil Sith named Darth Maul was sent by Darth Sidious to stop the
heroes. Episode 2 follows the first episode where Anakin is trained by Obi-Wan Kanobi, a
Jedi master. They were tracked by another Sith named Count Dooku. Episode 3 was just
awesome. Its where Anakin becomes what he was destined to be, Darth Vader. Episode 4
was about Lukes first adventure form Tatooine to destroying the Death Star, then we saw
Han Solo and Leia helping Luke out. Episode 5, we found out that Darth Vader was
Lukes wouldnt want to spoil it for you! Episode 6 we see that the villains built another
Death Star.

6th Grades
Field Trip

The 6th grade field trip to the museums
and the play Sleepy Hollow was great.
In Sleepy Hollow, actors used props and make things like they were
real. The art gallery and museum were great as well. The art pieces
were shown by culture. One exhibit had a chalkboard for people to
write on. The military museum was cool
too, and we saw
lots of things
from WWI and
WWII. We even
saw a jeep that
was in the war.

Hanukkah SANTA FACTS

Hanukkah is a religious holiday celebrated by Jewish people. Hanukkah takes
place during December 6th through the 14th. During Hanukkah Jews use a special candles called a Menorah. It includes
9 candles, and the 9th one is used for lighting the others. The
9th candle is known as Shamash which means helper candle. Hanukkah is a special holiday for Jews. Usually we
look past it, but it is truly important to Jewish people. Let
everyone know about Hanukkah and how special it is.

Saint Nicholas and Father Christmas.
Once there was a real-life monk known as Saint
Nicholas who lived in Britain. Tradition states
that Santa, aka Father Christmas, comes down
chimneys and visits childrens homes on Christmas Eve. Santa is also known as Christkind,
which is German for Christ Child. This is because Santa was considered to something like an
angel that went along with St. Nicholas on his
mission trips.
Santa is rumored to live in
the North Pole. There is no
land beneath the ice of the
North Pole, but instead
there is a shifting pack of
sea ice which is 2 to 3 meters thick floating above the
4,000 meter deep Artic
