Lumiose City Style & Restaurants

By

ShhmewMay 27, 2016

Post-Game

This section should cover just about everything else there is to do in Lumiose City. Mostly, coverage of the Lumiose restaurants, and how to raise your style
points.

Lumiose Style
High style can unlock various things throughout Lumiose City, including:
Discounts for various amenities within Lumiose City
Access to the Boutique Couture, the most fashionable and expensive Boutique in the Kalos Region
New Furfrou trims at Friseur Furfrou
New hairstyles at Coiffure Clips
New juices at Juice Shoppe
New effects for PR videos
Free audio guide at the Lumiose Museum
Access to the final O-power: Hatching Power in Caf Introversion (after every other O-Power is collected; requires max style)
Different dialogue from some NPCs
How to check your style
One of the best ways to check how many style points you have is to visit the Stone Emporium on Vernal Avenue. Talking to the man in the top left corner, he will
offer you a Mega Stone, the price depending on what your style is.

How to raise your style

There are plenty of ways to raise your style, such as creating PR videos, working for the hotel, getting a hair cut, entering the lottery... all this stuff being things
to do in Lumiose City. However, the easiest and possibly quickest way to raise your style is to buy Premier Balls (from the Pok Ball Boutique on Autumnal
Avenue only). Each time you buy one, your style will slightly increase. Yes, this means you must buy them one at a time in order to get increased style with each
one. Buying a whole bunch in one transaction will not work. Note: You can also use a Bargain Power to make it even cheaper, and sell them back when you're
done so you don't lose as much money.
If this seems tedious, you can watch a movie or something while you keep pressing A! Try checking your style after buying about 50, but note it takes about 150
of them to get completely from low to max style.

Restaurants
Restaurants are known as the most effective way to make money in the Kalos region.
Each restaurant in Lumiose City is rather expensive to enter. Once you pay, you are served food as you partake in a number of battles, all in a row (you will not
be able to save or switch your Pokmon around between battles, but you will be fully healed after each fight). Before each battle, your waiter instructs you
exactly how many turns the battle should take.

At the end of the series of battles, you will receive a number of valuable items you can sell. The closer to the correct number of turns you complete each battle
in, and the less your Pokmon faint, the higher number of valuable items you will receive. Keep in mind that doing flawlessly can be very difficult, as the Trainers
here like to use bothersome strategies that lower your chance of defeating them in the amount of turns planned. This includes using moves with priority, trying
to make your Pokmon flinch, using Protect, or raising their evasiveness. Even if you just do decently, though, most restaurants give you enough items to sell (in
addition to the prize money after each battle) to make a nice profit, despite the high initial cost of entering.
Once you have completed a course perfectly, a star will appear next to its name. After all courses in a restaurant have this star, you will be treated by the owner
as a frequent visitor, and be able to tip $10,000 at the end of any course in the future (at that particular restaurant).
Before entering a restaurant, it is recommended you activate a Prize Money Power, and equip one of your leads with the Amulet Coin or Luck Incense, so you can
get the maximum amount of profit in the end. You should make at least some profit either way, though (except in Sushi High Roller).

Well, that's about all there is left to cover for Lumiose City, style, and restaurants! Hopefully you've become a bit more stylish after reading, or learned how to
make a nice amount of money.
Note: There is also a side quest that takes place in Lumiose City after you enter the Hall of Fame and upgrade your Mega Ring.

Looker Bureau Side Quest

Looker Bureau Side Quest

By

ShhmewMay 27, 2016

Post-Game

In order to unlock Looker's side story, you must enter the Hall of Fame, upgrade your Mega Ring, and go explore Lumiose City for a bit. You should get invited to
the Looker Bureau via your Holo Caster.
The entire story takes place in Lumiose City.
WARNING: If you're just reading through, know this section will obviously have some major spoilers regarding this story with Looker.
Chapter 1: That Man's a Real... Looker
The Looker Bureau is located in Rogue Plaza Alley, across from Sushi High Roller. Fly to the Pokmon Center on North Boulevard, and go down the alley just
beside it (across from the gate to Route 14). The Bureau is at your right. This building was previously empty, but now that you've upgraded your Mega Ring,
someone has moved in. Who could it be?
...Indeed, it is Looker, a character that has had roles in previous Pokmon games. He will introduce himself and say he is a detective of Lumiose City. He
explains why he became a detective, and that he wants you to become his assistant. Answer Yes, and after some more talking, you'll be able to leave. Talk to
him again whenever you're ready to begin.
A few quick notes: This side quest has quite a few battles, all with high leveled Pokmon (up to L70). Even though you'll certainly be able to walk around freely
between missions, some battles come as a surprise, so it's best you stay prepared for a tough battle at all times. Additionally, if you're ever lost at any point
during these missions, or are just tired of running back and forth, remember that you can get anywhere in the city by taking a taxi cab. The city is horrendously
confusing to navigate, but I will do my best to explain clearly how to get from place to place! And finally, this section unfortunately does not have screenshot
images at this time, since there is not a video counterpart.
Anyway, after you talk to Looker again, you are given your first task: to find five Looker tickets that have been scattered around the city and return them to this
building. As he will explain, the tickets will be sparkling (similar to Mega Stones), so they're not that difficult to spot.
Leave the building, and you'll receive a message on your Holo Caster. It will be Looker, reviewing the locations of the 5 tickets. Remember, if you're having a
hard time finding the locations of each ticket, take advantage of the taxi cab! Specifically, the tickets can be found in the following locations:
1. After exiting the Bureau, Fly to the Pokmon Center in the middle of Lumiose City (or walk there by exiting the bureau, turning right to get to Rouge Plaza,
and heading right, straight through Autumnal Avenue to Magenta Plaza). This Pokmon Center is near Magenta Plaza and Lysandre Caf. The ticket is sparkling
inside, west of the nurse's desk, in the walkway to the dressing room.
2. From this Pokmon Center, turn right, toward the giant Prism Tower. Inside the Tower, you'll find the ticket west of the elevator entrance, next to the
Worker.
3. From the circular area where the Prism Tower is, go on Vernal Avenue, which is across from where a Diggersby is standing (the one WITHOUT the visible, red
Pokmon Center). The Herboriste, where the ticket is located, is the first blue building on the right. You'll see the ticket sparkling on the right side.
4. Exit the Herboriste and turn right to end up on South Boulevard. Go either direction to get to North Boulevard (or Fly to the Pokmon Center in North
Boulevard). Go inside Hotel Richissime, which is the large black building (from the Pokmon Center, it's the direction in which the Litleo is running around). The
ticket is on the east side, against a corner, where a Punk Guy is standing.
5. Exit the Hotel and turn right. Go inside the Lumiose Museum, which is the first building over (it's large and white, with big columns, you can't miss it!). The
ticket is located completely east, beside a couch against the east wall.
After you've collected them all, go back to the Looker Bureau (from the Museum, it's down the alley right beside the Pokmon Center) and speak to Looker.
Apparently, that quick trip made you a fully fledged detective already! Hooray! Confirm that you will be his crime-fighting partner, and from now on, you'll
receive a message on your Holo Caster whenever there's a new job to do. Actually, you just need to explore around Lumiose City a bit, and you'll receive your
next Holo Caster message.
Chapter 2: In the Back Alleys
After getting the new Holo Caster message and speaking to Looker once more, he'll tell you about the new case to solve. Read from the notebook on the desk
behind him to learn that mothers in Lumiose City are concerned about their children spending so much time in the dark, hidden back alleys. Talk to Looker again
and he will say the alley beside Restaurant Le Nah is where he believes you should visit first.
This dark alleyway is the only one on South Boulevard. Head over to Restaurant Le Nah (black building with one star over the door) on South Boulevard and
squeeze into the shady, narrow alley near it (it's just next to the sleeping Skiddo). Inside, you will find a few young Trainers. You'll need to battle each one to
proceed. The first one, Preschooler Natalie, has a Swinub L53 and a Bonsly L53. Second, you'll fight Preschooler Lily, who uses an Igglybuff L55. Next up is
Schoolgirl Callie, who has a Rapidash L53, a Kingler L53, and a Leavanny L53. Finally, you'll face against Schoolboy Macon, who uses a Spiritomb L56.
After everyone is defeated, Macon will mention someone named Mimi. Continue forward and Looker will meet up with you. Soon after, a Pokmon's cry is heard,
and an Espurr will approach you. You'll then see a young girl, who introduces the Espurr as Mimi, and it will soon become apparent that everyone in the alley is
only playing together as friends. No mischief here!
The young girl will reveal that she has no family, and upon learning this, Looker will invite her and Mimi to join the Bureau to live and work in. Mimi immediately
runs away out of fear, and the girl explains that she can't accept Looker's request since Mimi prefers life in the alleys. You'll then receive the task of befriending
Mimi.
As soon as you leave, you'll receive a message on your Holo Caster. According to the children, Mimi does not like being petted by strangers (that means you),
and it is often found in the alleys of North Boulevard, which is reached by turning left upon exiting the alley. Mimi will be hiding in one of the following dark
alleys:
On each side of the Galette Stand, there is an office building. Across from these office buildings are alleys, both of which are ones Mimi could be hiding in.
There is a third alley across from the Lumiose Station, which is a large, pale brown building with two sleeping Skiddo near it (on the other side of North
Boulevard).
When you track Mimi down, you'll want to choose to dance in order to proceed. If you choose a different option, Mimi will run away again, and you'll have to find
it in another one of the alleys listed above.
After dancing, you and Mimi will automatically return to Looker and the young girl, who will be impressed at your fast befriending skills. Looker will again ask the
girl to join the Bureau, and she will now accept, with Mimi by her side.
The girl will introduce herself as Emma, and the case of the back alleys will be pronounced closed. Again, Looker will tell you that he'll send a message on your
Holo Caster the next time a case comes up.
Chapter 3: Detective, Tourist, Gang
After you receive another message, return to the Bureau. Looker will say he's noticed Emma is looking stressed, and asks you if you think something's wrong.
Answer yes or no, and a woman in green will run into the building, speaking a foreign language. Looker claims he understands her, and runs out to get some tea.
Emma then comes in, and eventually you will find out that the woman is upset because her Pokmon was stolen at the Lumiose Station. Looker will return, and
Emma will explain the situation, eventually causing Looker to rush off to the Station. Emma asks you to help him out, since he does not have a Pokmon to
battle with.
Answer Yes, and make your way to Lumiose Station. After exiting the Bureau, turn left to get to North Boulevard, and then turn right, going until you find the
large, light brown building beside the two sleeping Skiddo. Inside, go completely east to find Looker confronting a few Punk Trainers. They will challenge Looker
to a battle, saying that if he wins, they will give the Pokmon back, but if he loses, he must let Emma go, so she can hang out with them again. Since Looker
doesn't have a Pokmon, he can't accept, and after some dialogue, you must battle all three of them in his place.
Be sure to prepare yourself before battling them, as these can be some tough fights. The Punk Girl to the north, Lumiose Gang Member Sedna, will battle with a
Mandibuzz L58. Be wary of its high defensive stats. The Punk Girl to the east, Lumiose Gang Member Eris, will use a Pangoro L56 and a Bouffalant L56. Both of
these have strong moves and high Attack, so again, certainly worth watching out for! Finally, the Punk Guy, Lumiose Gang Member Nix, will face you with a
Druddigon L56 and a Krookodile L56. Once again, these can be pretty powerful, so battle with caution.
After the battles, Emma will run up and demand the Gang Members return the Pokmon. There will be some dialogue, and then the three of you will
automatically return to the Bureau. The Punk Guy from the Lumiose Gang will come to visit, and then him, Looker, and Emma will chat for a bit. There will be a
cutscene between Emma and Mimi, and then you'll be free to walk around again.
Chapter 4: An Unforgivable Crime
Walk around Lumiose City a bit until you receive another message on your Holo Caster, again asking you to return to the Bureau. Make your way back, and after
speaking to Looker, you'll receive a second message on your Holo Caster saying someone has broken into the Lumiose Museum and damaged artwork. You'll be
sent to the Museum, so go left to North Boulevard, and enter the large white building with columns just across the street to the right.
Inside, you'll be spotted by an Artist who will tell you that the commotion, as well as the museum director, is upstairs. Go up the stairs twice, to the third floor,
to find a man looking at a graffiti-covered painting in the middle of the floor. This man is the director, and will ask you how you feel about the defacing (your
answer doesn't matter). After he finishes talking, exit the museum.
Outside, you'll get another Holo Clip message. This one will say there is a Pok Ball thief on the loose. You'll get another message directly afterward, from
Looker, asking to return to the Bureau quickly. Head on back, and speak to Looker. He will have a plan and ask you to aid him. Say Yes, and he'll tell you to go
to one of the alleys across from the Gallette Stand (when facing away from the Stand, it's the alley to the left).
Inside the alleyway, you'll receive another message from Looker. Head all the way to the back and speak to the woman, who challenges you to a battle. She'll
use a Jellicent L58 and a Volcarona L60. Be especially careful against this Volcarona, as it can use Quiver Dance to raise its Special Attack, Special Defense, and
Speed, as well as the powerful Heat Wave (and less powerful Silver Wind) to damage your team with.
When you defeat her, she'll attempt to take your Pokmon, and transform into a strange woman in a suit, as Looker joins you. After saying some strange, robotic
things, the woman will leap away. Looker will advise you to go to the alley next to Caf Triste next, and automatically heal your Pokmon. This next alley is very
close to the one you are in, also being across the street from the Gallette Stand. Simply exit the alley and turn left to reach it.
Once you arrive, you'll receive a new Holo Caster message from Looker. Go to the back of the alley and battle the suspicious Fairy Tale Girl, who uses a
Whimsicott L57, a Mawile L57, and a Granbull L57. After you defeat her, she will turn into the woman in the suit once more, as Looker runs up. After some
dialogue, your Pokmon will be healed again, and Looker will say you should head to the alley across from Lumiose Station. Exit the alley and turn right,
continuing until you see the large, pale brown building with two sleeping Skiddo out front. Enter the alley across from it.
After another message, talk to a distraught Black Belt standing in the back. Looker will join you once more, and you'll figure out that the culprit has moved to
South Boulevard. Exit the alley and go right briefly to reach South Boulevard. You'll see another dark alley immediately to your right, so head inside.
Looker will send another message to your Holo Caster. Afterward, go to the back of the alley and battle this next suspicious person. She will have a Persian L60.
After defeating her, she will attempt to steal your Pokmon and transform into the suited woman, just as the other Trainers did. Looker will swoop in, and then
Mimi will enter, treating the woman in the suit as if she recognizes her. Still, the woman will treat Mimi as an obstruction and try to harm her, in which Looker
protects her, and realizes the woman in this suit must be Emma. She denies, saying her name is Essentia. After some more dialogue, you and Looker will return
to the Bureau.
There will be a cutscene between Looker and Mimi, and then you'll be free to leave. To continue the story, you must once again walk around until you get a Holo
Caster message to return to the Looker Bureau. Do so, and talk to Emma.
Chapter 5: A Fiery Woman and the Truth Revealed
Emma will learn Looker is in the hospital, and end up leaving because she's late for... whatever she does during that time. Immediately after, a man will enter
and ask for your assistance. Well, right after a battle to test your capability, that is. This man, Butler Chalmers, has a Braviary L62. Following the battle, he will
tell you to visit Hotel Richissime's Royal Suite. From the Bureau, get to the Hotel by turning left onto North Boulevard, and going right until you see the black
building across the street.
Inside, take the elevator to 5F. Enter the suite to the west, and you'll meet with Malva from the Elite Four. She will challenge you to a battle, but don't worry, she
will only use her Pyroar at L63. Afterward, she will talk about the mysterious woman in the suit, revealing that she is indeed Emma, inside a special piece of
technology created by Dr. Xerosic of Team Flare. She will explain that in order to save Emma, you'll need to visit Lysandre Caf and stop Xerosic.
Take a taxi cab to Lysandre Caf, or follow these directions: After exiting the Hotel, go down the avenue straight ahead (Hibernal Avenue). Circle the Prism
Tower until you see the avenue with water through the middle, with a visible Pokmon Center (a Diggersby is also standing here). Head down here, entering
Magenta Plaza, and go down the alley to the right, with the dark red building. Enter this red building (this is Lysandre Caf).
Malva will be waiting inside. Follow her to the back, and she'll grant you access to a secret room where Xerosic is. Take the elevator to "Hidden Floor" and you'll
immediately go into battle with Scientist Sonia, who will use an Elgyem L60 and a Klingklang L60. Take her out, and you'll have to navigate this hidden floor,
which is the same layout as the first floor, previously explored during the initial storyline. First, take the spinner tile to the northwest (pointing west). Take the
warp panel just north of here, and then the green warp panel (rather than the yellow one, which would take you back to the start).
Take the north spinner tile, and battle Scientist Ernst, who uses a Weezing L61 and a Heliolisk L59. Continue through the spinner tile pointing east that he was
blocking, and then the one south. From here, head northeast, and take the spinner tile all the way at the east (it is also pointing east). This will be a longer trip,
but eventually you will land next to another spinner tile. Take this one to land beside a Punk Girl. This is a Lumiose Gang Member you fought before, Sedna, who
has her Mandibuzz, now L62.
You'll then want to take the spinner tile just to the left of her, pointing south. Maneuver around the spinner tiles west and then south to reach another familiar
Lumiose Gang Member, Eris, who battles with her Pangoro L60 and Bouffalant L60. Take the southwest warp panel, and head north to battle Scientist Justus and
his Muk L62. Muk has a lot of Special Defense, so try to hit it with physical moves if you can, and watch out for its threatening Poison-type moves.
Step on the warp panel here, and you'll see the last of the three Lumiose Gang Members, Nix. Battle against his Druddigon L59 and Krookodile L61, and follow
him inside the room. There are quite a few Pok Balls inside here, but they are actually other Trainers' Pok Balls, not items to pick up. Interact with the shelves
to read some notes on the technology created and used by Xerosic, and how Emma is involved. Keep reading (check every spot on the front of every bookcase,
starting with the blue ones in the back and working your way down) until you finish Volumes 1 through 5. Then talk to Nix again, and his shift will end.
As soon as he leaves, Xerosic will enter, and eventually recognize you, calling the woman in the suit, Essentia, to battle you. After she falls in from the sky,
speak to her to begin a battle. You will have to battle her multiple times (with breaks between each), and she will use the same teams as those used in the back
alleys when attempting to steal Pok Balls.
First, she will use the Jellicent L64 and Volcarona L66. Again, remember to watch out for this Volcarona and its potent moveset (especially since it's even higher
leveled this time). Speak to her again to battle a Whimsicott L63, a Granbull L63, and a Mawile L63. Keep your dragons away from this fight! The next battle will
be a single Persian L66. After this fight, Mimi and Looker will enter and try to get Emma to snap out of the control she's under. It seems to briefly be working,
but Xerosic soon regains control. Approach her to enter a final battle with her.
This time, she will use a Crobat L68 and a Malamar L70. Like many Malamar, this one has Contrary, which means its move Superpower will raise its Attack and
Defense if used. It is also very high leveled, so take caution. After she loses, Emma/Essentia will visibly struggle against the suit as Looker tries to call to her.
Xerosic will shut off the remote-control capability, and Emma will awaken and be shocked to see everyone. Emma will eventually leave with you and Mimi, and
there will be a cutscene between Looker and Xerosic.
Chapter 6: Here's Lookin' at You, Kid
After you are free to move around Lumiose, do so until you receive a message on your Holo Caster to return to the Bureau. Go inside and speak to Emma. Mimi
will hand over a letter from Looker, which explains that he is actually a part of the International Police, and that he is leaving the Kalos region. Emma and Mimi
will rush out to stop him. When you try to leave as well, Nix will come in. Try to leave again, and he'll tell you Looker was just on his way to the Lumiose
Museum.
Exit the Bureau, turn left onto North Boulevard, and go across the street at the right to the Museum (again, it's the large, white building with the columns). Go
up to the third floor, where the defaced painting was, and talk to the director from earlier. He will say Looker just left. Leave the Museum (after having a brief
talk with an Artist at the exit) and you'll receive a new message on your Holo Caster. It'll be from Emma, saying Looker and Xerosic are at Lysandre Caf. Either
take a cab there, or go back down the alley across the street (where the Looker Bureau is), enter Rogue Plaza, and turn right to cross through Autumnal Avenue.
The red building straight ahead is Lysandre Caf.
Inside, you'll indeed see Looker and Xerosic. After some dialogue, Looker will spot you, and Emma will come in as well. There will be a cutscene with more
dialogue, and Looker will name Emma the new head of the Looker Bureau. Xerosic will also give her the suit (with the remote-control functionality removed) and
the Pokmon he raised. Soon after, Looker and Xerosic will head out, leaving for good, and there will be another cutscene, this one between Emma and Mimi.
Our story together ends here, but their story is just beginning...
And, at last, that is the end of the Looker side story! Hopefully all the navigation within the massive city wasn't too confusing for you.
After these missions are complete, you can now battle Emma at the Looker Bureau every day, if you so choose. She will use her Crobat L73 and Malamar L75,
making her very tough.
You can also now enter and challenge Sushi High Roller (located right across from the Looker Bureau), but it's a pretty big waste of money, so stick to
Restaurant Le Wow if you're looking to make a lot of money instead (and even get a whole ton of experience for your team in the process).
