REFLECTION PAPER

Introduction
This paper is a reflection of the course Technology in Education. This paper will discuss
important and new things learned from taking this course and why technology is important in the
classrooms today. It will also go into detail of the responses from other classmates on key points
from discussions, readings, and assignments.
Reflection on Learning
From taking this course I have learned new ways to integrate technology in the classroom
setting. In high school technology was being integrated and ways of smart boards, now every
classroom K through 12 has a Smart Board document cameras and plenty of software. I believe
my thinking of technology education has changed for the better because it allows resources to be
provided to students more effectively and teachers can teach more effectively. Technology in this
case makes the teachers job easier by working smarter not harder. New technology can make
communication between teacher and parents easier also allowing teachers to document ways the
students are in class either good or bad decisions.
I feel I will be able to integrate technology in my own classroom while also sticking to
traditional teaching strategies. The way technology is growing and changing there will be no way
around integrating technology in classrooms. These students are millennial's they are growing up
with devices and technology. We as teachers need to grow and learn with them. In some cases,
the students might be able to help the teachers with technology.
This class had great discussions, great examples of their own upbringing in the classroom
with technology. Some of the new gadgets and Technology I learned about in this course were

the podcast. The podcast is a great way for students to review the lecture and material from
home. If a student was home sick for a few days they're able to feel like they are in class
listening to the lecture and the assignment details. This allows students to review, not fall behind
if one vacation or out sick, and for students to work at their own pace. More importantly, think
about how students can create their own Podcast to express what they know and have learned.
(Elliott, Teach Like a Techie, 2011) Technology recourses for teachers can save so much time
not only for the teacher but the students. Recourses such as YouTube and Teacher Tube are ways
we can collaborate and share ideas. Now we must always have a plan B, because as we all know
technology can be a pain. It will always be good to have a pack up plan and always save to a
thumb drive or email yourself copies.
Fulfilling the Mission of the College of Arts and Sciences.
When it comes to technology being integrated with the work God in my life two words
come to mind, faith and practice. Practice because as teachers we have to know who to use the
technology and model to the students the appropriate ways. Give instruction to a wise man, and
he will be still wiser, teach a righteous man, and he will increase in learning Proverbs 9:9 (NIV)
God has given us tools to use these new technical devices, our hands to hold, our minds to create
and explore, and our hearts to teach and provide to these students. The growth of technology and
new devises challenge us as teachers and students. As a teacher we will never stop being a
student, we are constantly learning. Commit your work to the Lord, and your plans will be
established. Proverbs 16:3

footnotes). Start a new page for each table, include a table number and table title for each, as
shown on this page. All explanatory text appears in a table note that follows the table, such as
this one. Use the Table/Figure style, available on the Home tab, in the Styles gallery, to get the
spacing between table and note. Tables in APA format can use single or 1.5-line spacing. Include
a heading for every row and column, even if the content seems obvious. A table style has been
