1. Purpose
This method of statement covers the on-site installation of Isolator, Disconnect
Switches & Wiring Devices as defined in the General Specification.

2. Scope of Works
This procedure will define the method to be used to ensure that isolator, wiring
devices and disconnect switches are correct and acceptable and shall conform to the
Contract Documents and Specification.

4. Storage

4.1 Isolators, Wiring devices and Disconnect switches shall be stored in proper location.
Ensure that they are packed and stacked neatly.

5. Pre-Installation

5.1 All materials and documentation relevant to this particular section of works will be
checked and verified ensuring that these are correct and approved type.
5.2 Prior to the commencement of works, ensure that the areas for permanent installation
are ready, accessible and in suitable condition.
5.3 Make sure that the wall finishes were completed.

5.4 Check all wiring works were completed and the wires were tested for insulation
resistance and continuity test and ensure that the test are verified and signed-off by the
Consultant.

It has been presumed that all associated wiring works and testing has been completed and
accepted by the Consultant.
6.1 Isolators / Disconnect Switches
6.1.1 Mark the location of isolator on the walls or ceiling. The mounting height of
isolator/disconnect switch in the walls are as follows :
o 15A to 125A isolators mounting height shall be 1400mm A.F.F.L.
from the top.
o 200A and above, mounting height shall be 1800mm A.F.F.L. from the
top.
6.1.2 Fix uni-strut channel support on the wall. Ensure that it is fixed properly and rigid.
6.1.3 Fix the isolator/disconnect switch on the uni-strut channel support. Ensure that it
has been fixed vertically and horizontally aligned.
6.1.4 Terminate the incoming and outgoing feeder cable using appropriate wiring
accessories.
6.1.5 Raise Request for Inspection for isolator/disconnect switches installation.

6.2 Wiring Devices

6.2.1 Clear all boxes from cement stains and foreign materials.
6.2.2 Fix wiring accessories ensuring that they are fixed properly and squarely aligned.
Ensure that the type of wiring devices shall be as approved type as to the areas
where they are going to fixed. Ensure that all connections are correct and the
wiring devices and boxes shall be earthed.
6.2.3 Cover all device plates with plastic sheet to protect the wiring accessories.
6.2.4 Request for Inspection shall be raised for wiring devices installation.

8. Safety
8.1

All safety precautions shall be followed as per approved safety plan & procedure.
Ensure all involved persons are aware of the same.

8.2

Safety Officer shall ensure that all ladders and scaffoldings are safe.

8.3

Ensure that tradesman will keep their working places clean, tidy and free from
rubbish.
