Evaluating Impacts of Organization on the Global Economy

Overall Task:
Research and create a graph that rates the impact of different organization and agreements over
time that relate to modern economic globalization. Present this information to the class. You may
work alone or in pairs.
Organizations to choose from:
IMF (International Monetary Fund)
G8
WTO (World Trade Organization)
NAFTA (North Atlantic Free Trade Agreement)
EU (European Union)
Bretton Wood
OPEC (The Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries)
FTAA (The Free Trade Area of the Americas)
Task one: Research! (Marked out of 6 one for each correct answer)
Answer the following on a separate piece of paper. Staple that paper to this one.
What is the name of the organization?
What are the functions of the organization?
Who does the organization/agreement represent? Why was the organization founded?
Where does this organization operate? When was this organization founded?
Task two: Evaluate!

0 = No impact, 5 = Moderate impact, 10 = Extreme impact

How to use the Create a Graph software:

Step 1:
Click on Line to begin

Step 2:
Click on Data to add your
numbers.

Step 3:
Select the Items drop down
menu. Change it to 5.
Do not change the Groups value

Step 4:
Put your organization name
followed by Impacts on Global
Trade in the Graph Title
section.
The X-Axis will be Year
The Y-Axis will be Impact

Step 5:
Finally, enter the years in the Item spots.
Make sure you have 1950 to 2020.

Step 6:
Make sure you set your Min
Value to 0 and your Max
Value to 10. You can click on
Preview to see what it will look
like.
Final Step: Click Print/Save
and email the graph to

Task four: Present your findings

You will present your graph to the class.
Using your research questions, you will explain to the class which organization you have chosen
to research. Make sure you are being informative. You may present using PowerPoint, Prezi, or
another method of your choice.
Your presentation must:
-Answer all the questions from your research.
-Include your graph.
-A brief explanation of why you think the organization is (or could be) impactful on global trade.
