MR. MIKE'S STEAKHOUSE

2011-2016

Grad

November 2011-2015

I worked at Mr. Mike's Steakhouse as a server. This job has taught me time management, teamwork, how to
properly multi-task, think on my feet, deal with money, and has me work with people. This was my first job and
gave me the opportunity to go through my first interview. I worked here for many years and gained a lot of trust
and respect from my bosses and co-workers. This allowed me to work my schedule around playing University
soccer and proceeding with my education.
LETHBRIDGE FITNESS
December 2013- August 2014
I worked at Lethbridge Fitness at the front desk and booster juice. This job has taught me many social skills as
there is constantly people coming and going. I also learned how to react quickly in tough situations.
BACKSWING EATERY-LANDO LAKES
April 2016-Current
I work at Backswing as a server as well as on the cart. This job has taught me how to manage money and think
quickly in order to get customers their change in a timely manner. There is constantly people waiting to hit the
ball if I am on the course or waiting to buy something in the restaurant. I was asked to do many different jobs at
once. I think that my previous jobs have made this opportunity much easier because of the experience I have
had already working in this type of environment. I am still on payroll here and plan on working here again
throughout the summer.
Teaching Experience
Sunnyside Elementary school
My first practicum was at Sunnyside Elementary school where I taught in a 5/6 split classroom. I taught social
studies, health and art to the students. In this practicum, I became comfortable with integrating technology as a
teaching tool. During this practicum, I had the opportunity to help with the schools Christmas concert.
Children of St. Marthas Elementary
My second practicum was located at Children of St. Marthas. In this practicum, I taught grades one through six
Physical education and grade 3 health. I learned how to manage my time in a physical education environment.
During this experience, I also had the opportunity to referee basketball games.
St. Marys Taber
My third and final practicum was located at St. Marys in Taber. Throughout this practicum I taught grades 6,8
and 9 Physical education and a 7/8 option class. I was able to take on a head coaching positon for the grade 7
Storm volleyball and 7/8 Storm basketball teams. This practicum has taught me the importance of building a

school community through co-curricular activities and leadership activities through the school. I have also
learned how to use my time more effectively by using transitions as a time to create teachable moments.

Community Involvement
Pronghorn Athletics: I played four years for the University of Lethbridge soccer team. This allowed me to travel to
Europe and to different places in Western Canada to play soccer. I met amazing people through this experience
and learned how to manage my time being a student-athlete.
Coaching: I really enjoy working with children. That is why coaching was a great way to get out and take what I
have learned through playing and teach it to my team. It has taught me management and organizational skills as
well as planning.
2012: U5 Roughriders soccer
2014: Grade 6 Basketball at Our Lady of Assumption School
2015: Grade 10 Volleyball at Catholic Central High School
2016: Grade 7 Volleyball at St. Marys
2016: Grade 7/8 basketball at St. Marys
Church: My family and I lead St. Basils congregation in singing every second Sunday and Christmas Eve. Doing
this gives me great satisfaction in knowing I am helping out my church community and that I am being a faith
leader in our community. It is a great opportunity for students that I teach and future students to see their teacher
being a role model for them in their faith journey.
Refereeing: I have had the opportunity to referee at different schools for various basketball and volleyball games in
the community.
2010: St. Josephs school volleyball tournament
2015: St. Patricks Elementary School volleyball tournament
2016: Children of St. Marthas school for home basketball games
2016: Blessed Mother Teresa Elementary for volleyball games
Special Olympics: I helped out with the Special Olympics 5-pin bowling team on Thursday nights. This was a great
experience for me because I saw how happy each participant was to have an opportunity to be part of the team.
The atmosphere in the alley was very rewarding for me as I learned how much each athlete appreciated my
feedback each time they went up to bowl.
Operation Red Nose: During my time as a Pronghorn athlete, I had the opportunity to help out with a great cause
in the community. Operation Red Nose was set up around the Christmas season to ensure people in our
community were getting home safely.
School volunteering: (2014) I went to Ecole LeVerendre and volunteered with a class to teach them soccer skills. I
enjoyed my experience with these students and it was extremely rewarding to see them succeed in a sport that I
love.
