Teaching and Learning Procedures

A. Routine Matters
Attendance
Prayer
B. Motivation
I will present a video to the class titled Five Green and Speckled
Frogs where they can sing along.
C. Explanation
What kind of animal did you see in the video? Its what we called a
frog. So today we will discuss about The Life Cycle of a Frog.
(I will present first another video about The Life Cycle of Frog after that

is the discussion)

A frog is belong to the group called Amphibians; Amphibians are cold-blooded

vertebrates (vertebrates have backbones) that dont have scales. They live part
of their lives in water and part on land.
The process in which a one body change into another body is what we called
Metamorphosis. Metamorphosis is the changes that a frog goes through
during its life cycle. There are four main stages in the life cycle of a frog. Frogs
have a life cycle with two parts, living in water as tadpoles and on land as
adults.

The first stage in the life cycle of the frog is the egg. A frog lays many eggs
at one time. The eggs are covered with a jellylike coating. The egg mass
laid by a frog. Each of those black dots is made up of a bunch of cells
that will eventually grow into a tadpole. Depending on the species, these

egg masses can be made up of several hundred eggs!

The second stage of the frog life cycle is the tadpole. Within a few days,
the eggs develop into tadpoles. Tadpoles live completely underwater. After
a few weeks, a hormone in the tadpoles thyroid gland initiates
metamorphosis. Hatched tadpoles have gills for breathing in the water.
They have a tail, but no legs.
Over about a 24 hour period, the tadpole develops into a frog. This
means almost every organ has to change so the tadpole can go from
living underwater to living on land as an adult frog. In this picture you
can see the tadpole has started to grow hind legs.
After the hind legs have started to form, a pair of front legs will
begin to develop and the tail will start to disappear. You might also notice
that the tadpole has started to form a frog-like face. The tadpoles skull is
made out of cartilage (the same stuff your nose and ears are made out of)

but during metamorphosis, the cartilage is replaced with bone.

The next stage of the frog life cycle is the froglet (Young Frog). When the
tadpole reaches the froglet stage, it is almost a full adult. At this point,
the tadpoles gills have disappeared, and its lungs have enlarged. This
means it is ready to leave the water and live on land. Once its tail

disappears, it will become an adult frog.

Once the lungs form and begin to work, the gills and tail disappear. As
you have just read, frogs go through a lot to get to this phase. They even

go through changes that arent visible in these pictures. The tadpoles

horny teeth, once used to tear up plants, disappear and tongue muscles
develop to catch insects. The tadpoles large intestine, important for
digesting algae and plants, shrinks to suit the frogs meat-eating diet.

Generalization
It is important to know about the world and things that live in it
with us. If you ever want an animal as a pet, you need to know how to
take care of it and know what to expect as it grows. Its gives you an idea
on where they came from and how did they grow same as learning
through curiosity.

VI.

Application
Group yourself into 5 groups, now I want you to count 1 to 5 if
done arrange yourself according to your group. What are you going to do
is I want you to make your own collage out of any materials you want
about the life cycle of a frog. Just used your creativity.

VII.

Evaluation
Lets have first a 1-5 quiz. And after that you will answer the
following activity, for the cross-word pictures write the correct
names that correspond to the pictures. Write it across or down it
depends on the number. For the Maze And Lastly, For the Word
Search find and encircle the word in the scrambled letters.

VIII.

Assignment
In a one half sheet of paper write in a 3 to 4 sentences of what I
know about Frog Life Cycles?
