List and describe three (3) of the six (6) characteristics of a successful
secondary physical education program as discussed in Ch. 1. Be
prepared to share your responses in class.
1. Positive Learning Environment: A positive learning environment is
when students feel comfortable in the classroom. Also a positive learning
environment is providing a class where there an opportunity to learn and
mess up without their being a negative punishment. Establishing a positive
learning environment is when teachers make proper discipline, teaching
and motivation factors so all students can enjoy the class.
2. A variety of Activities are Available: This is where there are different
types of activities are available for different types of students. This is
important because everyone is different and many students have different
learning styles and interest. If there aren't different activities available then
there wont be opportunities for some students to learn or students will lose
interest.
3. Diagnostic and Counseling Practices Are Evident: This means that
teachers can help students recognize their strengths and shortcomings in
their class. Students should be able use their teachers a guide for
themselves and how they are as a student. But for this to happen teachers
need to be able to provide guidance to their students and let students know
that they are there.
