Introduction

- For test method for density of

hydraulic cement
The density of Portland cement is a mass of
cement that the specific volume is defined as the mass
of a unit volume of solids. We use the method that
replace the air by material that do not react with the
cement. So we use kerosene to do this experiment. This
test method covers the determination of the density of
hydraulic cement. Its particular usefulness is in
connection with the design and control of concrete
mixtures

Apparatus
- La chatelier Flask

Introduction
- For test method of fineness of Portland
cement by air permeability method
This test method is determination the fineness
of hydraulic cement, using the air-permeability
apparatus, in terms of the specific surface
expressed as total surface area in square meters
per kilogram, of cement. Although the test method
may be, and has been, used for the determination
of the measures of fineness of various other
materials, it should be understood that, in general,
relative rather than absolute fineness values are
obtained. For Portland cement, the fineness is the
property that tell you that this Portland cement
react with the water fast or slow. More fineness
quicker to react with water. Portland cement is
small and difficult to measure size so we use the
air permeability to test it.
Objective
To find the fineness of Portland cement by using air
permeability method

- Blaine air permeability apparatus

- Filter paper
- Permeability cell
- Plunger

- Manometer tube
- Mercury
