ANTIMONY TRISULFIDE
CAS No. [1345046]
Antimony Trisulfide SP Grade is used in:
As a partial replacement for asbestos due to its unique properties of high heat stability and
friction modification under extreme pressures, i.e. in brake pads and linings.
The lubrication and grease market as an extreme pressure additive. Its unique planes of
cleavage provide solid lubricant capabilities. The particle size and hard contaminants such as
silica and iron are critical parameters. New grades with different particle size characteristics
are currently being developed to optimize properties in different product applications.
This material will also exhibit flame retardant properties and adds an advantage to its use in
brake linings and lubricants.
This material can also be used as an intermediate reactant where the presence of sulfur is not
deleterious or may be desirable as one of the reactants.
