PYROBLOC SAP2 AND SAP5

Sodium Antimonate
CAS No. [15432856]
Pyrobloc SAP2 and SAP5 are inorganic antimony compounds, which provide good flame
retardant properties in combination with low opacity and tinting strength in polymer applications.
SAP2 and SAP5 flame retardant grades also have a very low reactivity. This is a major advantage
in sensitive polymers such as PET where conventional antimony trioxide flame retardants can
promote depolymerization during processing.
Two grades of product are available to fit your requirements with additional grades being
developed.
Pyrobloc SAP2: Developed to provide low reactivity and excellent physical properties for
saturated polyesters and engineering thermoplastics.
Pyrobloc SAP5: Developed to provide very low opacity and tint strength property in a full range of
polymer systems.
Pyrobloc SAP2 is recommended when any combination of flame retardancy, low reactivity,
excellent physical properties, low opacity or low tint strength is required. The primary polymer
applications for this product are thermoplastic polyester resins and other engineering
thermoplastics.
Pyrobloc SAP5 is recommended when flame retardancy is required in either translucent or
intense color applications in vinyl and virtually all other polymer systems including saturated
polyesters. In these applications this product imparts very low opacity and tinting due to the
combination of its low refractive index and relatively high particle size. It should be noted that for
effective flame retardancy SAP Grades should be used in combination with a halogen containing
compound. SAP Grades can be used with virtually all the known grades of halogen based flame
retardants.
