Unit Summary:
Over the course of this Unit, students will be introduced to several concepts related to the Progressive era. Students will gain
insight to the origins of womens suffrage including: the second great awakening, the industrial revolution, reform movement,
14th amendment, 15th amendment and the origins and goals of the Progressive movement. During this unit Students will be
exposed to critical thinking activities that will allow them to investigate, discuss, and write about the Progressive movement.
More specifically, students will analyze the issues surrounding the ratification of 19th amendment, the amendment that gave
women the right to vote.

Lesson Activities:

At the beginning of class, the whole class will fill out an anticipation guide to gauge
their level of understanding of the unit to come.

As a class, we will go through the Unit lecture together. Students will follow along
and will in their guided notes as the lecture progresses. After the lecture and the
guided notes are completed, the class will be opened up to a class discussion.

Lesson Activities:

Students will be required to complete the webercise handout involving guided online
research and related questions.

Once the class discussion is concluded, We will start the concept mapping activity
using Popplet. Students will be formed into groups to analyze an significant figure
from the Womens Suffrage Movement.

Students will be given time create their own flashcards using the online service
Quizlet defining key concepts from the unit.

Students will select a Suffragist Movement subject for a poster. Once their research
is complete, students will write a one page description of their subject and paste it
in the center of their poster. Students will finish decorating their posters with
images that symbolize various aspects of their subject's life.
