SETTING THE STANDARDS LEADS TO

SAFETY!
Dangerous goods can endanger the safety of an aircraft, its passengers and crew,
people on the ground or cause damage to property or the environment if not
prepared and transported in accordance with the regulations.
The definition of standards for classification, packaging, marking, labeling,
documentation, handling and training, as well as their promotion and use, contributes
to achieve a very high degree of safety in the transportation of dangerous goods by
air.
Dangerous Goods Regulations
IATA works closely with governments and the International Civil Aviation Organization
(ICAO) and our member airlines to develop regulations that advance safety and
facilitate fast and efficient transport of dangerous goods by air.
This way, we ensure that the regulations on dangerous goods transport are effective,
efficient and globally aligned. The IATADangerous Goods Regulations (DGR) manual
is the global reference for preparing, shipping and transporting dangerous goods by
air and the only standard recognized by the worlds airlines.
Through the DGR, an effective training program and a network of accredited training
schools, IATA ensures that professionals have the tools and resources to prepare,
ship and transport dangerous goods safely.
