FCC Antennas
The antennas in this section are suitable for use in the FCC 902928
MHz band. These antennas are used primarily in North America and
other select regions around the world.
2.1.
ANTENNA-013
2.1.1.
Technical Description
The ANTENNA-013 is single-element patch antenna with a 42 beam
width. This antenna has a typical gain of 13 dBi and is primarily used as
an (external) auxiliary read point antenna for the ID5100 reader in the
902928 MHz (FCC) band.
This antenna has a relatively narrow beam width so it is useful in areas
where the operation area needs to be constrained such as might be
encountered where readers are on close adjacent lanes. It has linear
polarization and so is best used where the orientation of the RFID tags is
in a predefined alignment with the antenna.
This antenna has the same characteristics as the one integrated into the
ID5100 (FCC) reader
Figure 1
ANTENNA-013
2.1.2.
Typical Applications
Antenna-013 is intended for use in the FCC frequency band with the Sirit
IDentity 5100, 5200, and 5204 readers in AVI applications. The antenna
radiation pattern is linear polarized and is intended for applications
where the orientation of the tags/transponders is fixed and matches that
of the antenna. AVI applications typically use a horizontal orientation.
This antenna has a broad 42 beam width and will provide the correct
field pattern for a single standard vehicle lane width when mounted on
an overhead gantry at a height of approximately 18 ft (5.48 m) and with
the antenna elevated to an angle of 5 to 10 towards the oncoming
traffic flow. The antenna is intended for general purpose tolling where
wide area coverage is required.
Multiple lane applications are acceptable when lane discrimination is not
critical. For example, traffic management systems, divided ETC lanes,
or EVR systems.
2.1.3.
Electrical Installation
ANTENNA-013 is equipped with one N-type Female (Jack) connector.
Use only an N-type Male mating connector.

ANTENNA-018-E
2.2.1.
Technical Description
The ANTENNA-018-E is single-element patch antenna with a 63 beam
width and Right Hand (RH) circular polarization. This antenna has a
typical gain of 9.5 dBic and is primarily used as the (external) auxiliary
read point antenna for the ID5100 reader in the 902-928 MHz (FCC)
band.
The circular polarization makes thus antenna particularly suitable for use
where the orientation of the RFID tag is not predefined. This antenna is
the same as the internal integrated unit in the ID4100 (FCC band) reader.

ANTENNA-018-E
Typical Applications
Antenna-018-E is intended for use in the FCC frequency band with the
Sirit IDentity 4100 reader in access control or parking garage
applications. The antenna radiation pattern is circularly polarized which
allows the RFID tags to be placed in any orientation.
This antenna has a broad 63 beam width and will provide the correct
field pattern for a single standard vehicle lane width when mounted on
an overhead gantry at a height of approximately 12 ft (3.65 m) and with
the antenna elevated to an angle of 5 to 30 towards the oncoming
traffic flow. The antenna can also be used for side-fire (antenna mounted
on the side of the lane) installations. The antenna is intended for general
purpose parking or gate access (FCC).

Connectors
h Use the highest quality connectors possible and ensure that they are
the correct type for the cable in use.
h Refer to the connector manufacturer specifications to ensure that the
cable insulation and conductors are cut to the proper length.
h If using crimp style connectors, ensure you have the correct size
crimping tool and the tool is applying the correct pressure to the
connector. Sirit recommends making several test crimps before
attempting a connector installation.
h If the connector is to be exposed to the elements, Sirit recommends
that weatherproofing be applied to the connector assembly. Cable
boots, self amalgamating tape, or other weatherproofing is
recommended.
Refer to the following for a list of available cables and cable kits:
