Potions and oils for high magic campaigns

These potions should make those apothecary trips more interesting. Also potions are a
great way to reward players and whilst not worrying too much about breaking your
campaign.

Oils & Potions

Advice & Notes
All potions with ! next to the their names are most likely
illegal in your game world. However, I leave it to the
DM's discretion.
Another thing, some of these potions would be very
tempting for one person to drink one after another. I
recommend use of the Mixing Potions variant rule on
p140 of the DMG.
Optional Rule: When slipping someone a potion make
a DC20 nature check. Make it DC15 if the person doing it
is proficient with the herbalism kit.

Potion of Alertness (Calimsham Coffee)

Potion, rarity varies
The coffee produced in Calimsham is know far and wide
as one of the best roasts you'll find. After keeping more
than one wizard awake through a night's research, the
inevitable happened. A magical brew was created. However, it left many wizards too twitchy to stay in their
towers. This lead to an influx of wizards adventuring
just to tire themselves out.
Depending on the rarity your initiative is increased by x
for 6 hours. Usually comes in a capped mug which when
open releases a rich and luxurious aroma.

Potion of Breath Holding

Potion, Rare, !
Need to sneak someone into or out of the city and it's
better they look dead? Never know when you may need

saw a few dungeons back in a cloud of toxic gas, has
something worth the cost of this delicacy? Potion of
Breath Holding is for the discerning buyer and those
that want to be prepared for all situations.

Potion of Cure Lycanthropy

Potion, Rare
Lycanthropy can and will ruin the lives of those it is inflicted on. The cure takes a long time to make due to one
of the main ingredients being some fur from the type of
Lycanthropism you intend to cure. Thus most common
folk are priced out of ever getting such a cure.
This potion will cure Lycanthropy of the type it is made
for. However, it will not cure hereditary Lycanthropy.
The potion takes the colour of the type of Lycanthropy it
cures.

failed, role on the Indefinite Madness table on p260 in
the DMG.

disorientated for up to a month, not remembering their
past.

was obtained. However, a potion from a hospital or shop
owned by an upstanding citizen will definitely do the
average as a minimum.
