Comments:
15 of 16 student were authentically engaged and on-task throughout the observed
period. Through teacher-led questioning, all students were required to answer
questions (cold-call) or were required to share their input on the writing activities.
Mrs. Brannon continuously moved throughout the room to monitor student work
and to ensure success. Students monitored their own learning, and were aware of
expectations for directing their own learning. In example, several students were
finished categorizing their writing details, and immediately took out their books to
read until it was time for the next set of directions. The learning expectations are
clear and routine within Mrs. Brannon's classroom.

Comments:
The learning objective was clearly posted for the students to read. The goal was to
write using the detail generating questions to help revise a paragraph. Also,
students will establish a composition with a central idea and supporting sentences
with details and exploration. Students had previously completed a pre-writing over
what they want to do when they grow up. Mrs. Brannon demonstrated how to
transfer the ideas and sentences they had previously completed into three
categories: Facts, What I can see, and Why is it important? Mrs. Brannon visited
with each student as they were writing on their desks in order to ask questions and
provide students with feedback. The lesson changed pace multiple times
throughout the observed period which allowed for increased engagement and
student input. Throughout the 50-minute lesson, the students were able to
successfully complete 3 activities all within the same learning objective. The pacing
of each activity was perfectly aligned for the students. Transitions were flawless,
each taking less than one minute.

Comments:
Throughout the lesson, Mrs. Brannon utilized the cold-call strategy in teacher-led
questioning. Students were able to show mastery in multiple ways such as their
pre-writing planner, dry erase writing responses (on desk), as well as the revising
and editing final products. Multiple activities aligned with the same learning
objective provided multiple opportunities for Mrs. Brannon to gauge student
learning and mastery.
Strengths
Mrs. Brannon provided specific
feedback to students. It wasn't a simple
statement as to whether she "liked' the
ideas or input, but specifically how the
detail supported the central idea, etc.
This allows for other students to also
benefit from the feedback!

classroom during the observation time with one student being continuously off-task. Mrs.
Brannon had private discussions with the student and used proximity control. She
conferenced with him multiple times as he need reinforcement to ensure that he was on
the right track with his assignment. Mrs. Brannon has built great relationships with her
students and they are very eager to meet her high expectations.
