INTRODUCTION
Automobile Service Station is a service venture. It provides vast scope for
employment generation in urban, rural and far flung areas. At Automobile Service
Station the servicing of cars, L.C.Vs, H.C.Vs, & other such four wheelers etc. are
being done.
It is a service oriented unit, so different services like engine overhauling, general
repairs, gear box repairs, suspensor work, changing of break wires & other spare
parts, etc are taken up for 4-wheelers, 3-wheelers, 2-wheelers. Cleaning and
painting is also undertaken for the vehicles.
Apart from washing, Greasing of vehicles, general repair work is also being carried
out at the service station.
Service station is the most essential unit to vehicle users. This unit can be
established in urban, semi-urban and village areas to meet the local requirement.
Candidates having good experience or qualified persons can start this unit with low
investment.

SERVICING METHOD

The servicing of the automobile vehicles would be done at auto service

station.
The important activities would include replacing the wear out parts, washing
of the vehicle, greasing & oiling the movable parts.
To begin with the vehicles will be placed on the flat form and would be
washed under showers and then moving parts will be greased and oiled.
The air pressure in the wheels of the vehicle will also be checked.

Pollution Control:
The pollution would be created due to effluents coming out of the
washing chamber and other oils used for which Proper care should be taken for
disposal of them.

Inspection & quality Control:

The customers satisfaction is the ultimate object of the servicing. In order to
achieve it the delivery schedule of the vehicle and quality of the servicing has to be
consistent.

Market Potential
There is a phenomenal growth of the automobile sector in the recent past. It
has created a substantial demand for auto service station type of venture. This unit
is more viable in the areas such as National Highways, city by passes etc. As per
the statement made by car industry body, the Indian auto market is expected to run
at a rate of 12-13 percent in the present fiscal. Talking about the last fiscal, the
Indian auto industry went through the best sales and now in this year it is expected
to come up with even better news for auto majors by offering a growth of 12 to 13
per cent.
The reports given by Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers, a hike of
24 % is expected in the year 2011 in the field of Car, LCV & HCV vehicle. This
trend is possible through the availability of easy loans and range of choices
available in the market.
As the market of auto service is directly proportionate to the automobile Sales,
there exists a substantial scope for such stations

MARKET DEMAND
There is good demand for automobile service centre due to increase in the number
of vehicles day to day.
After implementation of globalization and privatization, many multi-national
companies competing with each other and introduced many models of 4-wheelers
and 2-wheelers. Besides, the purchasing power of the people also increasing
considerably and it becomes fall under necessary item in the cities/urban areas
especially for business persons and salaried persons.
Now days, the middle class persons are also maintaining 4-wheelers/2-wheelers
due to affordable price and changing habits of the consumers. Hence, there is a
good demand for setting up of automobile servicing and repairing units particularly
in some important tribal center

REPAIREA & SERVICING

It is assumed that cars coming into the workshop soliciting repairs and servicing
would subscribe to the following main services:
(i) Maintenance Services: which mostly constitute running repairs / services like
Gear oil / Engine Oil / Break Oil change, Oil Filter change, spark plugs / point
repair, lubricant replenishment / replacement, tuning, break shoe repairs, minor
suspension repairs etc. These maintenance services are usually characterized by
their very little job turnaround time and are usually disposed of within a half a
days work.
(ii) Major Repairs: mainly related to repair and replacement services that require
comparatively greater job turnaround time and include activities like engine
overhaul (3 weeks), gearbox repair & replacement, steering box repair &
replacement, suspension replacement (3 5 days) etc.
Wheel Alignment & Balancing :
(i) Wheel Alignment which consists of adjusting the angles of the wheels so that
they are perpendicular to the ground and parallel to each other. The purpose of
these adjustments is to maximize tires life and ensure a vehicle that tracks straight
and true when driving along a straight and level road.
(ii) Wheel Balancing refers to the proper distribution of weight around a revolving
tire and wheel assembly. Poor wheel balance can have a marked impact on both the
car and safety. Proper wheel balance ensures that the wheels, while spinning, do
not have a heavy spot that can cause vibration and premature wear of tires, struts,
shocks and other steering and suspension components. When combined with
proper wheel alignment, balanced wheels ensure smooth and enjoyable driving.

CLEANING & POLISHING

High Pressure Cleaning mainly involves the cleaning of the outer body of
the car through high pressure water spray which contains a car body detergent and
then a little wax to smoothen the car paint.
Sublet Services:
Sublet services are those ancillary services that are outsourced to other
specialized workshops / personnel that are not a part of the service mix offered by
the Auto Repair workshop. These sublet services include items like Air Conditioner
Repair, Machine Shop Items, Radiator Repairs, Silencer Repairs, Shocker Repairs,
Upholstery Items (seats, bumpers, plastic repairs etc.). These sublet services
usually form a part of the total job order of the Auto Repair Workshop and are
usually a portion of the lump sum amount charged to the customer by the Auto
Repair Workshop.

CONCLUSION

During my training period, I got familiar with the actual industrial

environment and actual problem during working. Due to two weeks in plant
training, I got complete knowledge which we have learned in college in the form of
theory. I learned to apply the theoretical knowledge in to the actual practice.
I had seen different types of mechanical machineries & Equipments like
Air Compressor, Hoist, Pressure Pumps, Hydraulic Jacks and Vacuum Cleaner also
studied their specifications, working. I studied management skill, discipline and
working processes .This training has given me the feeling like to work as a
professional.
