PREFACE

Praise Ganesha and greetings may shed our Lord Shiva, because with his
permission and blessing I can finish geological mapping report is entitled
"Geology of Padalarang and surrounding area, Padalarang Sub-District,
West Bandung Regency, Province of West Java.
This report contains the results of geological mapping which includes the
analysis of geomorphology, stratigraphy, structural geology, and the history of
geology and economic potential such as minerals and also the potential disaster on
Padalarang and surrounding areas. This report is structured to meet one of the
requirements for a bachelor's exams (S1) at the Department of Geological
Engineering, Faculty of Geology, Padjadjaran University.
The completion of further geological mapping report writing is also
inseparable from the support and assistance of all parties, therefore, a sense of
deep gratitude and highest appreciation goes to:
1. Dean of the Faculty of Geology, University of Padjadjaran,
Dr.Ir.Hendarmawan, M.sc for encouraging me to immediately resolve this
report.
2. Mrs. Dr.Ir. Emi Sukiyah, MT and Mr. Nana Sulaksana, MSP as a
supervisor who has been patiently taking the time and mind to guide
writers during the conduct of the study from the beginning to the
completion of the preparation of this report.
3. The entire staff of other lecturers and the administration of the Faculty of
Engineerin Geology Unpad for all their help and support.
4. Father and mother and brother and family for the support, love, prayers,
advice and motivation so that I can finish this report.
5. My friends whom always give encouragement and motivation for writers
doing research until the completion of this report
6. The entire academic community program Geological Engineering, Faculty
of Geology, University of Padjadjaran.
7. To the unnamed one by one who has helped many writers

The author realizes that this report is far from perfection therefore criticism and
constructive suggestions for improvement very authors expect this report. We
hope that this report will provide benefits to those who need them.

ABSTRACT

Location of the study area is located in Padalarang, West Bandung Regency,

West Java Province. While the geographical area of this research lies in at
107o25o40 until 107o28o10 and -6o48o40 until -6051010. Geomorphology unit
area is divided into three units such as Volcanic geomorphology, Sediment
geomorphology and Karst Geomorphology.
Stratigraphy of the study area divided into three lithogies and the sediment
surface in order form old to young, which is Limestone Unit (Tol), Sandstone Unit
and interbedded clay (Tms) and Tuff Unit (Qt)
Geological structures that developed in the area of research is joint like
extensional joint; Ciseuruh, Ciwalahir and etc.
Geology in the study area can be followed from the Late Oligocene to Holocene
epoch. There are several potential geological namely: positive potential available
economically valuable minerals and also the negative potential like air pollution.
