Wishes all of you

In lieu of Christmas, SHEMROCK will be organising a weeklong celebration for our little
SHEMROCKites. The entire week, starting from 19th December (Monday) till 23rd December,
2016 (Friday) will be filled with exciting activities for the children.

Spark a Smile Initiative Invite children from an orphanage and tell the school children to
bring unused books, toys & clothes to give away as gifts to the underprivileged children.
Sharing is Caring Activity Children will bring their favourite pack of cake, biscuits or
chips to share with the underprivileged children.
Movie Time All the children (school children & the children from the orphanage) will watch
movies based on Christmas
Entertainment Programme

DAY 5 FUN-TASTIC FRIDAY

The Christmas Carnival


o Fancy Dress Children will come to school in fancy dress. They may dress up as a fairy,
an elf, Santa Claus, Christmas tree, reindeer, star, teddy bear, Mother Mary, Father
Joseph, etc.
o Christmas Feast Cake Cutting & Candy Distribution by SANTA
o Gifts Exchange Children will bring one packed gift each worth not more than 100 rupees
to exchange with their classmates
o Buggy Ride with SANTA (Optional)- One of the teachers will dress up as SANTA & go
with the children for a buggy ride

CRAFT ACTIVITIES
SHEMFOUNDATION
HAND CUT OUTS FOR THE CHRISTMAS TREE

Material Required
1. A green pastel sheet.
2.3 Plastic bowls filled with 3 different shades of green water colour.
Method
1. Children will dip their hands in any one of the bowls filled with green water colour and make
their hand print on the green pastel sheet (so that we have handprints in different shades of
green).
2. These prints can then be cut out by the teacher and be used to decorate the display board.

CANDY CANE CRAFT
Material Required
Cardboard
Red paint/ Red pastel sheet
Cotton
Glitter tubes
Fevicol & Scissor
Method:
1. The teachers will draw the shape of a candy cane on a cardboard.
2. She will either paint it with red colour or paste a cut-out of the candy cane using red pastel
sheet on the cardboard.
3. She will then cut out the candy cane from the carboard and give it to the children for the
activity.
4. The children will then paste cotton on the candy cane & decorate it using glitter tubes.

MAKE YOUR OWN SANTA
Colour the Santas cap with a red crayon.
Colour Santas face with a peach crayon.
Paste cotton (balls) using fevicol on Santas hair, eyebrows, moustache, beard, and the pom
pom on the cap.

CHRISTMAS CAP DECORATION
Material Required
1. Green pastel sheet to make the cap (to give the look of a
Christmas tree)
3. Glitter
4. Bindis, foam stickers, pom poms, etc. for decoration
5. Star shaped cut-outs from golden paper
5. Fevicol
Method
1. The teacher will make conical caps for the children by taking a piece of green pastel sheet
paper 12" by 18" (30 by 45 cm) by following the below steps.
Roll the sheet into a cone and size the base to fit the head size of the children.
Be sure not to make it too big, or it may slip and cover the child's eyes.
Paste the overlapping edges using fevicol.
Cut off the extra paper at the base of the cone.
2. Children can now decorate the cap using glitter tubes, pom poms, foam stickers
and bindis.
3. They will paste the golden star cut-out on the top of the cap to complete the look.
Activity 3 - CLAY MODELLING
Material Required
Modelling Clay in different colours
Method
1. Provide children with modelling clay.
2. Encourage them to use it to make
Christmas crafts like Christmas tree,
Santa Claus, Snowman, candles, wreath,
etc. keeping in mind the age, interest and
capabilities of the children.
3. Also, provide the children with pictures
for reference while they make the craft.
Note: These crafts can be used for school decoration.

DAY 2 TREE-MENDOUS/ TUESDAY


Activity 1 - CHRISTMAS TREE DECORATION

Children will bring small sized Christmas trees (labelled


with their names on them) from home.
They will also bring decorative items such as baubles,
tinsel, candy canes, wreaths, garlands, bells, stars, etc.
to decorate their own Christmas tree.
These Christmas trees can be used to decorate the
school and later be given back to the children to
take them home.

Activity 2 - GIFT WRAPPING

DECORATING THE WRAPPING PAPER
Material required
1. Empty boxes of different shapes and
sizes, plain brown/ white paper (for
wrapping)
2. Cello tape
3. Glitter tubes
4. Fevicol
5. Decoration material such as bindis, satin
ribbons, stickers etc.
Method

The teachers will wrap the boxes well in advance for the activity with brown or white
paper.

Divide the class into groups (4 children in each group).

Give one wrapped gift to each group with the decoration material.

Ask the children to decorate the plain wrapping paper with the material provided to
them.

Help the children wherever required.

TOFFEE GIFT WRAPPING
Material required:
1. Colourful gift wrapping paper.
2. Empty

Method:
1. Demonstrate to the children how to wrap the box like a toffee.
2. Ask them to wrap the empty boxes in the shape of a toffee, following the given
instructions for the Christmas gift wrapping activity. Teachers will help children to cut
the cello tape.

NEWSPAPER GIFT WRAPPING
Material required:
1. Old coloured & black and white
newspaper pages
2. Colourful ribbons
3. Empty shoe boxes or any other
cardboard boxes
4. Decoration material like stars, glitter
tubes, beads, ribbons, coloured tape,
stickers, etc.
Method:
1. Ask the children to wrap the cardboard boxes using newspaper.
2. Instruct them to decorate it using ribbons, by making bows on the top or tying
ribbons.
3. Further, tell them to use the other decoration material to make the gift look fancier.
4. Teachers will help children to cut the cello tape.
Note: These wrapped gifts can be used for school decoration.

Activity 1: RHYME RECITATION
Children will recite the below Christmas rhymes in the class.
Help them prepare these rhymes for the Entertainment Programme to be showcased for the
invited NGO/ orphanage children.

DAY 4 THOUGHTFUL THURSDAY


Activity 1 - ENTERTAINMENT PROGRAMME
Invite small children from an NGO or an orphanage.
Our SHEMROCKites will showcase a stage performance
(Rhyme Recitation & Carol Dance Performance) for the
children of the NGO/ orphanage on the stage.
Refer to the Rhymes & Carols given under activities
for DAY 3 - WOW Wednesday.
Activity 2 - SPARK A SMILE INITIATIVE

Ask the children to bring their unused clothes, toys,


books, etc. wrapped from home to give away as
Christmas gifts to the underprivileged children.
Explain the importance of Christmas to the children.
Tell them about the significance of giving away gifts on
Christmas. Also explain them why giving brings more
happiness than receiving.

Activity 3 - SHARING IS CARING ACTIVITY

Encourage the school children to share the


eatables they have brought from home (a
pack of cake, biscuits or chips) with the
children from the NGO or an orphanage.
The school can also arrange for cupcakes or
puddings for the school children and the
children from the NGO/ orphanage.
The school can arrange for disposable
thermocol plates and glasses.

Activity 4 - MOVIE TIME

Play Christmas videos in the audio-visual room and let the school children along with the children

DAY 5 FUN-TASTIC FRIDAY THE CHRISTMAS CARNIVAL


Activity 1 - FANCY DRESS

Inform the parents well in advance to dress up their children in fancy dress (Santa
Claus/ Elf/ Jesus/ Mary/ Tree/ Star/ Reindeer etc.) for the Christmas celebration in
school.

Decorate the stage area for the children according to the Christmas theme.

Children will walk on the stage.

Children from Shem Prep Jr. and Shem Prep Sr. may also say one or two lines about what
they have dressed up as.

Appreciate the efforts and costumes of the children by giving them a thunderous
applause.

Activity 2 - CHRISTMAS FEAST CAKE CUTTING & CANDY DISTRIBUTION

Book a Christmas cake.

A teacher will dress up as SANTA CLAUS and


cut the cake along with the children.

Play Christmas carols to create the ambience.

Children will dance with SANTA to enjoy the


Christmas festivity.

Arrange for a photographer so that the children


can get a picture clicked with SANTA.

SANTA will distribute candies to the children.

Activity 3 - GIFTS EXCHANGE


Children will bring one packed gift each
worth not more than 100 rupees to exchange
with their classmates after Cake Cutting &
watching the movie.

Activity 4 - BUGGY RIDE WITH SANTA (Optional)

Arrange a Buggy in advance.


The teacher who has dressed up as
SANTA, will take the children on a Buggy
Ride around the school or in a park.
Children can sing Jingle Bells carol on
their Buggy Ride.
