achievements, training & development and Company representation in a vibrant
spectrum of events. Our dynamic leadership has steered us well in the sea of
business tumult we could all, but manage to confine the magnanimous essence

leaps and bounds in the present quarter and those to come. As the year draws to
a close, it is time to ponder and evaluate our progress, resolving to scale greater
heights tomorrow.

a'Commemorative Postage Stamp' and 'Coffee Table Book' were released by Shri Narendra Modi, the

financial year, your company was also accorded the coveted 'Navratna' status by the Government of India.
Economic Environment and Outlook
It was a very challenging year for the world
economy. Geo-political tensions in Ukraine and the
Middle East and the debt-repayment crisis in
Greece dominated the world economic climate. In
spite of these adverse conditions, according to the
World Economic Outlook, the global economy
maintained its growth rate of 3.4% in 2014. The
year also saw the Chinese economy slowing to its
lowest growth rate in the last 30 years to 7.4 per
cent. According to IMF, the global economy is
projected to grow at 3.5% and 3.8% in 2015 and
2016, respectively.
In India, 2014 was a year that saw the new
government take bold and directional steps by way
of major structural reforms. The economy is now
getting back on a growth track. Country's GDP as
per Central Statistics Organization, grew at 7.3 % in
FY2015 compared to 6.9 % in FY 2014. For the first
time, the Indian economy crossed the threshold
US$ 2 trillion mark in FY 2015.

EIL - ABU DHABI HUB
Veni, Vidi, Vici.
We came, We saw, We conquered.
Once upon a time, a tiny caterpillar sat content on a mulberry leaf,
musing in harmony and relishing a bounty of resources. The world was
a beautiful place to live and moments meant to be cherished. But soon,
things changed there was competition, less vegetation and even
lesser tranquillity. The caterpillar thought and thought, and one fine day
it tore apart its cocoon to spread out its wings, fluttering in the sky
as a colourful butterfly ready to hover on new flowers and explore
virgin territories.
The state owned Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) was
established in 1971 and since then it has steadily broadened its activity
by establishing companies/ subsidiaries and creating an integrated oil
and gas industry in Abu Dhabi. Today, the company manages and
oversees oil production of more than 2.7 million barrels per day and
ranks among the top ten Oil & Gas companies in the world.
EIL in UAE
It is also noteworthy that EIL Abu Dhabi has obtained ISO 9001:2008
certifications independently and has been HSE certified (ISO
14001:2004 & OHSAS 18001:2007) as well.
EIL has been providing services in UAE for more than 2 decades. In
2001, EIL established its Branch Office in Abu Dhabi. Since then, EIL
has an extensive track record of providing consultancy services
including specialized services to various Oil & Gas companies in UAE
particularly, ADNOC Group of Companies - GASCO, ADCO, ADMAOPCO, ADGAS, BOROUGE, NPCC etc.
With the new Abu Dhabi Hub, EIL is able to showcase increased
capability to the clients and is in the process of being considered as a
serious FEED/ Detailed Engineering player for larger projects. It will also

The recently formed EIL Abu Dhabi Hub has started to carve a success
story in the region by bagging 11 contracts worth approximately 200

Today, a major portion of the revenue from EILs overseas business is
secured from UAE and to further realize the vision and growth plans of
EIL, it becomes necessary to develop a long term sustainable business
model for increasing the contribution from overseas markets, especially
the Middle East. Considering the drop in crude oil prices and slowdown
in major CAPEX projects, EIL Abu Dhabi is also exploring the possibility
of securing jobs from infrastructure/water sectors. Shri Sanjay Gupta,
C&MD, EIL during his last visit inspired all personnel at EIL Abu Dhabi
to impart their best and work dedicatedly to procure a major share of
business from the overseas markets. Events have unfolded favorably so
far after the hub got established and it would not be far when the
Managements vision would be realized in totality.

Special Feature
Successful Commissioning of 42 inch re- routed SBHT line
It was a moment of joy, relief and sense of achievement when
EIL/ONGC team achieved the commissioning of 42 re-routed
South Bassein Hazira Trunk line at Umbharat, Surat of ONGC
well within contractual completion period with a new SV station
approx 1 Km from sea shore on July 31, 2015.
ONGC has been operating this 220 km long 42 SBHT gas
pipeline since 1995 which originates from BCPA-2 offshore
platform and terminates at Hazira Plant. This pipeline is the
lifeline of northern and western India since it feeds the HBJ
(Hazira Bijaipur Jagdishpur) Pipeline network of GAIL. Over the
years, section of pipeline of approx length of 2 km was washed
off into the sea from the shore and was exposed at Umbharat
beach (public beach) near Surat. The exposed pipeline hence
was facing direct stresses of tidal influence, harsh cyclonic
storms and high water currents. Catastrophic risks were
involved due to the possibility of bursting or leakage of pipeline especially at IJ location - during harsh spring tides when the line
was submerged in tidal waters and was oscillating with waves
during the high tides cycle which repeats every 12 hours.
Waves acting on the exposed section of 42 SBHT Pipeline during onset of High tide.
However this challenging job including stoppling, depressurisation / de-commissioning of the portion to de discarded
and commissioning of the re-routed line of 2 kms with Golden
tie- in was completed on July 31, 2015 as schedule but with a
reduced shut down period of 20 days which was taken by ONGC
on July 11, 2015. The work was challenging considering rough
high tides and the intervening monsoon period.
ONGC sought EILs expertise in dealing with the situation & EIL
was awarded Project Management Consultancy Job. Though
temporary remedial measures were explored, in view of high risk
involvement, life threat, and inventory loss and environmental
effects due to sour gas service- , EIL team - after the site visit in
August 14 - suggested that permanent re-routing of the exposed
section of SBHT pipeline will be the lasting solution.
Coffer Dam:
Broadly it consists of creating one tie- in point in offshore ( HK 01 ) before the LFP and another in on shore ( HK -02 ) after the
existing SV station. The re-routed new 42 inch line was
approx 1.9 kms and envisaged initial 400 mtrs pipeline laying
through open cut method in the intertidal zone + 1.1 Kms of
HDD to avoid forest land in between and balance 400 mtrs
open cut pipeline with New SV station before the on shore hook
up point. Subsequently LTHE was appointed by ONGC as the
LSTK contractor on October 08, 2014 for detailed engineering
and execution of the permanent re-routing of the exposed 42
SBHT pipeline in line with the above scheme. The completion
date for re-routing and commissioning was scheduled on July
31, 2015 as per the awarded contract. M/s LTHE (M/s L&T
Around 2200 nos of sheet piles were used to create this coffer
dam. About 15 nos of Diesel engine driven Dewatering pumps
were continuously deployed for dewatering - using well point
methods and to remove water accumulations / seepages /
splashes within coffer dam area thus making work inside
coffer dam for hot tapping , stoppling and golden tie- ins etc
possible even during tidal variations during the day / night .
Even while the main gas line is operational, on- line hot tapping
and stopple plug installation technique is used, to isolate
sections of the existing pipeline to perform Tie- ins with the rerouted line. The system consists of Welding Split tee and
carrying out the Hot tapping at identified locations while the 42
inch line is operational @ approx 65 kg pressure. Removal of
coupon and installation of 3 nos stoppling machine was also
done as a pre- shut down activity.
For inserting the stopple and plugging the line, no flow condition
was required and this is when shut down starts.

Something different will always leave a distinctive mark on our

For most people, this doesnt come naturally. Evolution and the
survival imperative have attuned human beings to pay careful
attention to all things negative; in addition, people quickly
become so accustomed to positives in their environments that
they hardly notice them. But a simple intervention can help
overcome both tendencies.
