I Objectives:
-

To know different types of electrical lightings

How do computation in electrical lightings solve
How do electrical lighting works

II Electrical Lightings Materials

-

Incandescent lamp
The incandescent lamp is the oldest type of electric lamp still in general
use. Its practical form was invented simultaneously in 1879 by Sir Joseph
Swan in England, and by Thomas Edison in America. Over the past 130
years it has undergone numerous changes in materials and manufacture
to bring it to its present performance and convenience as a light source.

Fluorescent lamp
A fluorescent lamp or a fluorescent tube is a low pressure mercuryvapor gas-discharge lamp that
uses fluorescence to produce visible light.
An electric current in the gas excites mercury vapor which produces shortwave ultraviolet light that then causes a phosphor coating on the inside of
the lamp to glow.

Mercury lamp
A mercury-vapor lamp is a gas discharge lamp that uses an electric arc through
vaporized mercury to produce light. The arc discharge is generally confined to a small
fused quartz arc tube mounted within a larger borosilicate glass bulb.

Metal Halide lamp

A metal-halide lamp is an electric lamp that produces light by an electric arc through a gaseous
mixture of vaporized mercury and metal halides (compounds of metals with bromine or iodine).
It is a type of high-intensity discharge (HID) gas discharge lamp

High pressure sodium lamp

The High pressure sodium lamp is the most ubiquitous lamp for street lighting
on the planet. The lamp is an improvement over the Low Pressure Sodium
lamp in that it has more acceptable color with the great efficiency of the
sodium lamp. The better color rendering comes with a bit of sacrifice. It has
less efficiency that the Low pressure sodium lamp. General Electric first
developed the lamp in Schenectady New York and Nela Park, Ohio. The first
lamp came on the market in 1964.

Low pressure lamp

The Low pressure lamp was the first sodium lamp to be developed. It is
known by its signature monochromatic yellow color. It it mostly used in Europe
sice it did not appeal in other markets due to its poor CRI or color rendering. It
is among the most efficient lamps in the world because itn uses all the

current it gets to create light at the most sensitive color (frequency)to the
human eye.

Lighting Fixtures
Or luminaire is an electrical device used to create artificial light by use of
an electric lamp. All light fixtures have a fixture body and a light socket to
hold the lamp and allow for its replacement. Fixtures may also have a switch
to control the light. Fixtures require an electrical connection to a power
source; permanent lighting may be directly wired, and moveable lamps have
a plug. Light fixtures may also have other features, such as reflectors for
directing the light, an aperture (with or without a lens), an outer shell or
housing for lamp alignment and protection, and an electrical ballast or power
supply. A wide variety of special light fixtures are created for use in
the automotive lighting industry, aerospace, marine and medicine.

III. Conclusion
-

I conclude most of electrical lightings has its different specs like its parts, how
do its develop, in gaseous mixtures, sodium or vaporized mercury. Where it
commonly uses in street or household etc. Most of the electrical lightings are
efficient to used due of its electrical consume
that the consumers can benefits when it used. Other than that they are many
types of lighting fixtures that are compatible in outdoor or indoor surrounding

1. A 40-watt fluorescent lamp 120 centimeters (48 in.) long produces 3,200
lumens of lights in a room having a general dimensions of 10x20 ft. Find the
illumination on the floor.

2. A 30 cd spotlight is located 3 m above a table. The beam is focused on a

surface area of 0.4 m2. Find the intensity of the beam.

3. A 400-cd light is located 2.4 m from a tabletop of area 1.2 m 2. What is the
illumination and what flux F falls on the table?
