SBI PO 2015: Letter to the Restaurant thanking them for their hospitality

On account of SBI PO 2015 Exam for the post of Probationary Officer, here we are providing you all a letter on
"Letter to the Restaurant thanking them for their hospitality". Hope you like the post!!!
You celebrated your birthday with some friends last week in a restaurant. It was a great success
and you and your friends enjoyed the evening very much. Write a letter to the restaurant to thank
them. Mention the food, service and the atmosphere. Also suggest any improvements to make
things better.
Dear Sir,
Last week on Saturday night some friends and I had dinner in your restaurant to celebrate my birthday. I
am writing to thank you for the great evening that we had.
All my friends remarked afterwards on the standard of the food and service that we received. All the food
was very tasty and well presented. Our waiter, whose name was Karan, was fast and friendly and put with
well with our bad jokes! The restaurant itself was warm and friendly and the atmosphere showed that all
the diners there were enjoying their evening.
I would like though to suggest one improvement. One of my friends is a vegetarian and he felt that the
choice for vegetarians was little small. If you could develop that, it would be a great advantage to your
restaurant.
Once again I would like to thank you for my highly enjoyable birthday dinner.
Yours faithfully,
Arjun

SBI PO Descriptive : How to Write a Letter

Letter Writing :
1. Formal Letter Writing :
It was used to be an important tool in the days when there was no fast mode of communication and
people used to write letters to each other. Now a days, Letter writing is very much limited to official
purposes and it is not much used for personal uses as we have got many other ways of communication.
However in the descriptive exam, we may get either Formal Letter (Application, Complaints etc.) or
Informal Letter (like letter to your younger brother or your friend etc) or you may get both. So It's better to
be prepared for all the situation.
Now let's have a look at the format of the Formal Letter. Below is the image and you can click on it to

The above is the format of the formal letter which you have to follow in the Examination. Apart from the
format there are certain things that you have to keep in mind before starting the letter. The SUBJECT of
the letter should be short and crisp. It should not be more than one line. And it should also convey the
reason for writing the letter.
Now talking about the body, the body of the letter consists of three parts viz.Introduction, Main
Content/Issue, and then Conclusion. Once you write a letter for any reason, the introduction part
should be such that the person should understand the issue and once he goes further, he should get an
idea. After Introduction, the main content should be such that it contains all the details of the issue and the
core area for writing the letter. The last part i.e. conclusion, it should be such that if you are writing a letter
for any request or complaint, the conclusion should be appealing and requesting.
Above is the technical aspects of the letter writing. Now talking about the whole letter, try to follow the
same I-pattern that is being shown in the above picture. And try not to make any spelling or grammatical
error.

2. Informal Letter Writing :

Let's now look at the Informal Letter. Below is the image and you can click on it to enlarge :

The informal letter is one of the very easy format and one can easily write it. Informal letter doesn't
include any contractual obligation and it purely consists of the feelings mixed with words. It doesnt need
any introduction or subject. This letter should include the concern as well as some other things can also
be included. Suppose you are writing a letter to your friend asking about a courier he sent, then you can
also ask him how is he doing and how is his family doing. It's just an art where you can include a lot of
things. In informal letter you can include other topics as well which is totally opposite to the formal letters.
As we have provided you both, try to write as many as possible and in SBI PO Mains, you will have to
type the descriptive topics, then do practice it on word so that your typing skills also improves. And if you
have any query, then don't hesitate to ask in the comment section.

How to write an Essay : Important Tips

To write an essay, a proper planning is needed. In the examination, you don't get much time to think or to
plan. So it is highly recommended that you start reading the newspaper for topics and do remember some
facts (specially for schemes launched by banks or central Government).
Now talking about the Essay, It consists of three parts viz. Introduction, Body and Conclusion.
Introduction :
Introduction is one of the most important part of your essay that can either leave a good or
bad impression on the reader. And remember, if you get a grip on it then rest won't matter much. Suppose
if "Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao" is given as topic then to introduce the essay, you need to be aware of the
motive and the essence behind the scheme.
Body :

Once the introduction part is over then you have to include bits and pieces of the topic. It can include
anything and while writing the body, you have to be careful about the facts and figures. That doesn't mean
that it has to be accurate but you can use the approximate figures. When you present facts in the essay, it
shows how aware you are of the surrounding world. And also it looks good.
Conclusion :
Conclusion is the part that includes the summary and things that can be improved. You can read various
examples of Essay and you can observe certain points because the conclusion part is very common and
you can pick certain ready made points. But be careful while using them in your essay.
Tips :
1. Make points in your mind and elaborate it while typing.
2. Essay should be connected from top to bottom and the readers shouldn't feel that you have left some
points unexplained.
3. Start each paragraph with a topic sentence that clearly links the paragraph to the rest of the essay.
4. Provide supporting evidence for each point that you make.
5. Try to finish with an interesting or thought-provoking, but relevant, comment. It looks good and it shows
that you are open for discussion which is a positive thing.
6. Avoid making spelling or grammatical mistakes. It leaves a very bad impression on the readers.
7. Write down quotations that may be particularly useful
8. If possible, try to make multiple paragraph based on the particular topic.
9. Do take care of the time management.
10. Last but not least, develop the reading habit for better vocabulary.
