Registration needed:
Security regulations at the VIC require that all visitors register in order to enter the VIC
premises. UNEP Vienna SCC needs to inform the Security service about your arrival.
Registration will then take place at the Security desk at Gate 1. After presenting an ID (e.g.
passport) to the Security desk, visitors will be issued badges, which will enable them to access
the VIC.
Reaching the VIC:
Visitors coming by taxi are advised to leave the vehicle in the side lane (Nebenfahrbahn) of the
Wagramer Strasse, register at Gate 1, walk over the plaza and enter the D-building.
Visitors coming by metro (U-Bahn) on line U1, which connects you with the airport trains,
should get off at the Kaisermhlen-Vienna International Centre, enter VIC grounds at Gate 1,
and proceed to the plaza and D-building.
To get from the Schwechat Vienna Airport, located 8 km from downtown, to the city centre, you
can choose the (1) City Airport Train (CAT), an (2) Airport Bus, the (3) Schnellbahn
(City Train) or a (4) Taxi.
1. City Airport Train (CAT)
The CAT leaves every half hour from the city centre (Landstrasse/Wien Mitte) and the airport.
The journey lasts 16 minutes, a one-way ticket costs 11 Euro, return ticket costs 17 Euro.

2. Airport bus:
An airport bus service, line 1183, operates from the Vienna International Airport to the
Kaisermhlen Vienna International Centre (VIC). Journey time is approximately 30 minutes.
Buses run every hour from 07:10 until 20:10. In the opposite direction buses leave from 06:10 to
19:10.
If you wish to go straight to the center, take the airport bus line 1185 to
Morzinsplatz/Schwedenplatz. The ticket costs 8 Euro one-way, 13 Euro return. For more

3. City Train (Schnellbahn S7)

Tickets can be purchased from the ticket machines on the platform and need to be
validated/punched before entering the train. From the airport to the centre of Vienna, you should
choose train with signs "Wien Mitte," "Wien Nord" or "Floridsdorf." One way will cost 4.40 Euro.
Please make sure that the train in the direction of the airport shows either the sign "Wolfsthal" or

4.Taxi
Taxi can be found in front of the arrival hall. It is advised to book a taxi in advance, either over
