Declining TLV System Packages

If a TLV system package is not desired, and the client/distributor wishes to buy components only,
they must indicate TLV System Package Declined on the CDA/CRA form when initially
submitted.
If the TLV system package is declined, the client/distributor are acknowledging that they are
declining TLV review and comments, and that they are taking responsibility for the installed
PowerTrap operation. The client/distributor must recognize that TLV will not be responsible for
any PowerTrap non-performance due to improper system installation.
A CES engineer will begin to process the CDA/CRA and recommend a preliminary solution.
However, if the client/distributor intends to construct their own PowerTrap system, a sketch of
the proposed installation must be sent to TLV CES for review to try to minimize operational
problems caused by improper installation. If the client authorized designer already has an idea
of how they intend to install the PowerTrap system, the sketch should be submitted with the
initial CDA/CRA. If the client authorized designer needs information from CES regarding suitable
product recommendations before designing the installation, CES will complete a draft of the
CDA/CRA form and report the preliminary solution back to the client/distributor. The client
authorized designer should then produce a sketch to be sent to TLV CES.

This installation sketch must include at least the following information::

a.Show the equipment being drained or the condensate source. If the equipment is a heat
exchanger, be sure to indicate if it is shell-side steam or tube-side steam.
b.The equipment condensate outlet height from grade.
c.Piping between the condensate source and the reservoir/receiver.
d.The dimensions of the reservoir/receiver (length & diameter).
e.The fill head from the bottom of the reservoir/receiver to grade.
f.Piping from the reservoir/receiver to the PowerTrap inlet.
g.Exhaust piping from the PowerTrap to the reservoir/receiver.
h.For Open Systems (GP): The flash steam vent size
i.For Closed Systems (GT) with Shell-side Steam: The balance line between the Reservoir and
the top of the heat exchanger.
j.For Closed Systems (GT) with Tube-side Steam: The balance line between the reservoir and
the side of the tube outlet channel head vapor space.
Note: If any obvious errors are discovered in the sketch, TLV will return it to the client/distributor
with an explanation of what needs to be reviewed to help eliminate unnecessary PowerTrap
system operational problems. A sketch must be found to be without obvious errors before
product can be shipped to the client/distributor.
