Motivatedbyadeepsenseoflongingtoreturntotheislands,thepoet
recaptures
inhismemorydelightfulscenesofhisnativeland.Herecallsthebrightbeaches,
theshermenshousesandthesoundoftheseawhichheraldedhisbirth.
Thepoethasjourneyedfromtheislandstodistantlandswherehisexperiences
havebeendierentfromthoseintheislands.Hehasvisitedstormycities,felt
thesharpslantingsleetandhailandtheoppressiveshadowsoftheforest.
Theseareopposedtothewarmthoftheislands,andthesaltybrineofthesea.
Tothepoet,theoceanthatsurroundstheislandsisasymbolofadventure,the
freedomofthespiritandthelimitlesspossibilitieswhichresideinitsvastness.
Inhisview,theriversthatformpartofhispresentenvironsremindhimofalife
thatlackspurposehefeelsresentmentfortherivers.
Herecallstherefreshingmemoriesoftheseawhichreecttheharmony
between
manandnature.Heseestheshells,theshermenshouses,thepebbledpath,
theshandthegullsandthewhitesails.Thesearethetreasuresoftheislands
whichherecapturesinthepoem.Thesearethetreasureswhichmakehim
forgetthepains,thesorrowsandthehatred.
