LET EVERYDAY BE AN EARTH DAY
Terminal Objective: The pupils will be able to write an e-mail to advise a friend what to
eat to have a healthy body.

The Speaking Test: Two pupils will have to enact a dialogue. Pupil A will play the
role of a heavy smoker father. Pupil B will play the role of the son who tries to
convince his father to give up smoking.
Procedure:
I-Warm-up:
Ill start the session by asking the pupils a set of questions:
Whats your favourite food?
Do you like to eat sweets?
Do you often eat sweets?
Is it good to eat sweets?
Whats the impact of eating sweets on our teeth?
It causes tooth decay
Now what do you think of eating fruit and vegetables?
Its good for our health.
Then Ill draw the following table on the board:
Good eating habits
Bad eating habits

For further practice, the pupils will be asked to study the food pyramid in their S-B
on page 76 then complete the questionnaire on page 77 to see whether their eating
habits are good or bad.

After that they will be asked to work in pairs to do activity 2 in their S-B on page 91.
Grammar:
Ill write the following sentences on the board:
The children destroy the bird-nest.

Ill ask the pupils to concentrate on the underlined words. What are
adjectives, nouns, adverbs...?
They are compound nouns
For further practice the pupils will be asked to do activity 1 in their A-B

Pronunciation:
Ill draw the pupils attention to the underlined words already written on the board.
Then, Ill ask a pupil to read both of them. The pupils will have to distinguish the
difference between the two words in terms of pronunciation

II-Production:
Your friend has a bad eating habit. Write him/her an e-mail to tell him/her what he/she
should eat to have a healthy body.
