Useful tutorial for controller editor?

Yo
I'm trying to get my head around the controller editor and have failed on many attempts.
All the manual tells me is what the pads/knobs can be used for and how to use the controller editor
software EXCEPT for how to actually assign a command.
Same deal with any youtube tutorials i've so ar found.
I think I understand the bulk of the process, but how am i supposed to tell controller editor which button
in a chosen program (Standalone, i know plugins are different) corresponds to which button on
maschine...!
Thanks heaps for any help.

The controller editor edits the controls on maschine ( ie toggle or hold )

the assign is done with the software you want to control. It usually involves hitting a learn button and
moving the button or knob you want to be used to control an ellement of that programm

the Controller Editor Application is useful for when the Maschine Controller is in MIDI Mode - press Shift
+ Control. when in MIDI Mode, the Controller can be used with Synth plugins - as an example.
you need to click on the Assign Tab and then use you mouse to select a parameter and then you can
see what has been 'assigned' to that knob or button or pad. you then have the option to change.
does this make sense?

Hi, Thanks for the replies.

Maybe it should be noted that the synth im trying to map maschine to is Metaphysical Functiion... The
midi learn works for all the knobs in the synth, but not for any of the automatable faders, which is what i
really want...

How can you change what it is assigned to though? Is it done by using midi learn only? Because I
noticed that the faders in Metaphysical would not 'midi learn' to anything (the midi learn button would go
back to grey after pressing a pad or turning a knob, but it wouldn't trigger the function).
I also noticed that on the knobs' assign pannel, they have a 'channel' and a 'number'. Does this have
something to do with being able to map things?...
Sorry, usually I can figure this stuff out by myself but yeah....

Yes, you can change what Maschine's controls are assigned to in the Controller Editor and then use the
MIDI learn function in the software you want to control. You should learn about MIDI channels, MIDI
CCs, note numbers...etc.

sorry, i didn't get back to you before with this.

Metaphysical Functiion's Faders don't behave well in terms of MIDI Learn because they use an X and Y
axis. if you use MIDI Learn the X axis will learn the CC. unfortunately it is the Y axis that is the important
part of the Fader - for this particular Ensemble.
to get round this problem, you will need to program in the CC number manually.
i hope the pictures make sense? let me know. the fader is was working on was the first Oscillator

Volume.
btw, if you do use MIDI learn, you should see the X axis programmed. you could just choose the next
number and use that CC.

I'm kinda wondering the same thing. In my situation, I'm trying to make a custom Maschine mapping to
work with Traktor, but I still don't understand how to make x do y in Traktor.

That's exactly what I'm after too. If anyone can give a helping hand that would be ace!
