ACHIEVEMENT TEST SHEET
SECOND GRADE-TEST B
SECOND SIX WEEKS; OCTOBER-NOVEMBER
INSTRUCTIONS. This sheet is not to be unfolded until pupils are
ready to begin writing the test and is to be unfolded in the presence
of the pupils.
Tear the sheet along the perforated lines into four parts. In giving
out tests, care must be taken that each child has time enough before
the next intermission to complete BOTH sides of the sheet, if printed
on both sides.
While this is not a time test, two subjects may easily be finished
between two intermissions. If desired, pupils may use scrap paper for
preliminary work, which paper need not be turned in unless requested
by the teacher; for example, in arithmetic pupils may first perform computations on other paper if desired. In drawing, pupils are to use regular
drawing paper. In language and, occasionally, in other subjects, a short
composition may be called for and turned in with the test sheet.
The "ACHIEVEMENT TEST MANUAL" gives a condensed summary of the work to be covered in each grade for each period, including
the exa'Ct words to be given in the spelling test, so far as the words in
the course of study are concerned. A copy of the "ACHIEVEMENT
TEST MANUAL" is provided for each teacher and should be used
CONSISTENTLY by the children. It will be a great help if each
FAMILY has a copy of ~his MANUAL to be used by the children in
different grades. Though it is, practically, the course of study, condensed,
it has a special significance to children because it bears directly on the
tests they are to take.
Instruct children NOT to fold p~pers. It is suggested that the tests
for each child be kept in booklet form during the year and used for
review at the end of the year. The six period tests, neatly bound together,
constitute good review material for the final examinations. Except in
PRIMARY GRADES, children should write tests in 11\TK.
THE ACHIEVEMENT TESTS. are written by V. H. Culp, I. D. Weeks,
Mrs. I. D. Weeks, and M. M. Guhin, all of Northern State Teachers College, Aberdeen, South Dakota.
