5. Molarity of HCl
The following equation has to be taken into account before
calculating for the molarity of sodium hydroxide:
Na2CO3 + 2HCl 2NaCl + CO2 + H2O
From this equation we can see that there is a 1:2 stoichiometric
ratio between HCl and Na2CO3. Thus, to determine the molarity of
HCl, the moles of Na2CO3 used must first be calculated and using the
ratio solve for the number of moles equivalent to HCl:
mass Na2 CO 3
1 mol HCl=2 mol Na2 CO 3=2

7. Mass of Sodium Oxide (Na2O)

To compute for the weight of Sodium Oxide, the moles of HCl
titrated must first be calculated:
mol HCl titrated=( Molarity )( Corrected Volume Dispensed )
0.09252
( 8308 mol /L)(30.0 7484 mL x

1L
)
1000 mL

0.002782774 moles HCl

Using the stoichiometric ratio of Na2CO3 and HCl, the moles of
Na2CO3 can now be computed:
1 mol HCl=2 mol Na2 CO 3
1 mol HCl
=1 mol Na 2 CO 3
2
0.002782774 mol HCl
=mol Na2 CO 3

To compute for the weight of Sodium Oxide we use the formula:
