A. Spelling Bee
1. Objective/s:
a. To spell words accurately

i.
The Merriam-Webster Dictionary shall be used as the official reference for the contest.
ii.
The contest is done in three (3) rounds: easy, average, and difficult. There will be 15
words for the easy round, 10 for the average, and 5 for the difficult round.
iii.
The Bee Master will give the correct pronunciation of the word, including its part of
speech and definition. It shall also be used in a sentence. The word will be read twice.
iv.
Time allotment will be implemented as follows:
Easy round
5 seconds/word
Average round7 seconds/word
Difficult round
10 seconds/word

i.
The contestant shall pick any of the topics prepared by the facilitators through the lottery
method.
ii.
The piece shall be delivered within 3-5 minutes. Every excess of 30 seconds shall be
one (1) point deduction.
iii.
Attire should be the school uniform.
iv.
The top three (3) highest scorers shall be declared as first, second and third place
winners respectively.
v.
The decision of the judges should be final and irrevocable.

40% - Delivery (Enunciation, Diction, Phrasing, Voice Projection)
20% - Persuasion
30% - Context
10% - Stage Presence and Impact

3. Mechanics:
i.
The class shall choose its own piece.
ii.
The time element of the piece shall be within 3-5 minutes. Every excess of 30 seconds shall
be one (1) point deduction.
iii.
The first syllable/word uttered signals the starts of the performance, and the bow determines
the end of the performance.
iv.
Attires should be appropriate to the chosen piece.
v.
Only one (1) group will be declared as the winner.

40% - Delivery (Mastery of the Piece, Pronunciation, Intonation, Expression, & Interpretation)
40% - Stress and Rhythm
10% - Costume

A. Scrabble
1. Objective/s:
a. To incorporate strategy in spelling skills
b. To develop anagramming, or forming words by rearranging the letters

Open to all High School students, but the first 8 students who will enlist on
Monday afternoon (12:30 pm) will only be the official players.

i.
The competition will follow the standard rules in playing the board game.
ii.
Specific mechanics and scoring guidelines will be oriented by the facilitator during the game
schedule.
