Began operations in 1980s in United States and was a public limited
company
Human Resource solutions provider aiming at optimizing productivity of
clients
Service portfolio included payroll generation & administration, benefits
management, risk management, HR policies management, recruitment,
employee performance etc

The Project:
A comprehensive HR portal capable of capturing organization charts, carry
out payroll and benefits management for various clients
Fixed cost project- was under the scrutiny of top management-used onsiteoffshore model
A hybrid agile methodology was finally used to carry on with this project
which was a huge success

Key success factors for the project


Regular involvement of the project manager of HRPP at each stage of the
project and giving continuous support and open environment to the
development team.
A strong culture of knowledge sharing in the team
Involvement of the client for the continuous feedback at each and every
iteration
Proper design phase involved in the project unlike of an agile project.

Decision questions:
Can agile be used for fixed-price projects in future? What can be done to avoid
efforts/cost overrun? What practices could be institutionalized?

Recommendation:
Since it was the first time that the company was using the agile methodology
that too in a hybrid format without having precedent in delivering projects
through this approach, they did a pretty good job in terms of the performance of
the project. Though some slippages happened in terms of effort estimation and

all but they can be improved over time with experience. All the key success
factors mentioned above needs to be institutionalized for success of the future
projects. Ravi should give proper training to all project managers for this new
hybrid methodology.
