Doubt
Doubt was really well done. The set was put together with care and
was displayed with beauty. The acting was very well done. The way the
actors stole and gained power during different scenes was very well thought
out. Mrs. Muller stole the show during her scene, and was by far the most
memorable part of the show. The ending was ambiguous which gave a real
charm to the whole play.
Netty McKenzie did a phenomenal job portraying Mrs. Muller. Her
passion throughout her scene really gave the character personality, and her
few movements gave the character body and purpose. Even though her
scene was short and concise, her time on the stage truly stood out. She kept
a stern look on her face for the start. When Sister Aloysius was talking
about her son you could easily see the concern on her face. To where she
was standing up and had enough of what was being said and wondering
where this was all leading.
Her facial queues helped tell exactly what she was feeling during the scene,
and helped support the lines that were said.
Jose Gonzales set design was simple, and time appropriate. Most of
the set pieces were already in prop storage and did not need to be built. The
only pieces that were built at the shop were the pulpit, the platform was put

together, the flagstones, and the stained glass windows. The grass was
ordered online and was cut out in the space. The flagstones were
individually nailed to the ground and needed to be re-painted after they
were placed. The windows were made from Plexiglas and were painted over
using a stencil. The colors were metaphorical of the seasons that happen
during the show and were representative of the time passing.
Ana Harveys portrayal of Sister James was well done and embodied
the character really well. For her, she had to play one of the harder
emotions at times for an actor in my opinion, that being sadness. Along with
concern and having to be unsure where all parts that she had to do. Near
the end, her emotional break and fight with the principal was very well
done. She really let her emotions surface and it brought a new level to the
character. It felt like what someone would do when they have had enough of
someones shit.
