The worlds most fuel efficient tractor

INDEPENDENT TESTING in Germany has shown the new Deutz-Fahr

series 6 Powershift tractors have the lowest fuel consumption ever
recorded for any tractor in that class, reports the NZ distributor Power
Farming.
The PowerMix tests by Germanys DLG (Deutsche Landwirtschafts-Gesellschaft) Test Centre near
Frankfurt are an internationally recognised measurement method which determines fuel consumption
in real working conditions by simulating a range of applications, including field work, transport and
PTO and general mixed work.
Power Farmings national tractor manager Brett Maber says these independent tests have confirmed
Deutz-Fahrs position as one of the worlds most economic and fuel-efficient tractors. These tests
show conclusively that the series 6 provides excellent performance in fuel consumption in all types of
operations, and with just 272g/kWh it has the lowest fuel consumption in its power category of all other
tractors tested by DLG.
Thats because of the Deutz-Fahr power efficiency concept, which is based on a search for the best
integration between engine, transmission and hydraulics to optimise tractor fuel consumption and
productivity.
The test found that the 6.1L Deutz common rail engine used in Deutz Fahrs 6160P model consumed
significantly less fuel and had an advantage of 2.5% over rivals in the same category. The results gave
the series 6 top placing in its power class.
It had an average consumption of 272g/kWh in the PowerMix test, which is the lowest consumption in
its class ever tested. Whilst this lower than average consumption is largely attributed to the Deutz Tier
4 engine, it was also noted that its efficiency is enhanced by the ZF Powershift transmission, which
minimises power loss, and the 5-stage Sense-Shift power shuttle system.
The following benefits were also noted by the testers:
Suspended front axle and self-levelling cab suspension giving more comfort and exceptional
manoeuvrability.
Superior lifting capacity (9200kg) and the possibility of up to seven dual action rear remotes with
120L/min oil flow available.
4-speed PTO system offered as standard with substantial fuel savings offered in ECO mode
Easy accessibility for engine maintenance and repairs with unobstructed access to the entire engine.

Excellent driver ergonomics with an airy Guigaro-designed cab and logical control layout.
PowerShuttle Sense-Shift system that ensures easier, smoother directional changes, with ability to
select more or less aggressive shuttle action in five steps.
Extremely smooth gear changes provided by the ZF transmission, and redesigned gear lever control.

A power take-off (PTO) is any of several methods for taking power from a power source, such as
a running engine, and transmitting it to an application such as an attached implement or separate
machines.
