Parent Communication Plan Key Touch Points

Developing a structured and strategic communication plan to ensure that the right message is being delivered at
the right time is key for several reasons:

Having a structured plan will ensure that the process runs smoothly and that there is consistent
communication with each family at key times (nobody will be missed) and result in increased student
retention.
This process allows for you to reinforce the positive growth in your students and allows parents to ask
questions and be involved.
This process will also impact your lesson planning, as you will find that reviewing student progress
regularly to communicate with families will increase your knowledge of your students and hold you
accountable for student goals and progress.

When should I communicate and what should I say?

The following table outlines key times to touch base with your families and provides guidelines for the different
key messages that should be the focus for your communication. You will also find a list of resources you can use
