EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
This study aimed to determine the effects of social relation on the self-efficacy of
the hearing impaired individuals. This study was conducted during the first semester of
school year 2015-2016. The subjects of the study were fifty (50) students in five different
schools at the town of Rizal.
This study used purposive sampling technique having ten (10) hearing impaired
students per schools namely: Maybancal Elementary School, Morong National High
School, Binangonan Elementary School, Tayuman Elementary School and Ilaya
Elementary School with no age barrier. Descriptive type of research was used,

specifically, the utilization of the researchers-made questionnaire on social relation and

adoptive self-efficacy scale as the main instrument in gathering data.
The data gathered were tabulated and interpreted. Mean was used as statistical
treatments to determine the effects of social relation on the self-efficacy of hearing
impaired individuals, computed r-value distribution was used to determine the significant
effects of social relation on the self-efficacy of hearing impaired individuals.
All the respondents focused to answer the questionnaire given by the
researchers, while the researchers observed the behavior of their respondents.
On the basis of the foregoing findings; the extent of social relations of hearing
impaired individuals has no significant relationship on the level of self-efficacy. Even
though hearing impaired individuals way of communication is crucial for developing social
relationships, they still believe in their own capability and find ways to express themselves
and reach out to their family, peers and neighbors. Perhaps their social relation doesnt
affect the ways on how they are going to build their

self-efficacy because it is their own

capability to do various task even though they dont merely socializing with others. , they
are also motivated, optimistic and hopeful through building support system from others.
The study recommended that parallel studies must be conducted considering
other variables which will affect the exceptional children. The Department of Education
must provide special courses on all school that caters hearing impaired individuals, also
provide more quality and functional facility to the student consider as exceptional
children specifically hearing impaired that can help and improve their own ability. SPED
teachers should continually be provided by trainings and seminars to upgrade their
knowledge on teaching students with disability. Also, the different educational institution

should provide activities that will enhance the self-efficacy of students with disability.
Lastly, DSWD must conduct program, seminars and training on increasing not only the
level of self-efficacy also the self-worth and self-esteem of all people with disability
specifically hearing impaired.
